I am curious of how possible it is to reserve BWV in November the week after the wine and food Fest at seven months out if I call right at the open date and time?

You should be able to get a preferred pool/garden view room. Standard view and preferred Boardwalk view rooms are fewer in number and high in demand so those 2 categories may not be available at 7 months. 1 bedrooms usually have the best availability.

I agree, something like a 1 Bedroom Garden/Pool view shouldn't be an issue. You probably even have a decent change of a Studio Garden/Pool view too. As for the other room sizes/views, it is hard to tell. You might get it or you might be forced to waitlist.

Since Thanksgiving is late in 2013, there might be a whole week between the end of F&W and before the Thanksgiving rush.

We are trying for that week also, we could not get a studio or one bedroom, but DH went on line and booked directly on Disney Website. Does DVC always hold rooms out for Cash Sales.. Were a little upset, since we were not able to use points.

Was there not even a preferred garden/pool view room at 7 months?

First rule of DVC: understand inventory. There are two different inventories of DVC properties. One is what is available through Member Services on points and the other is only available for cash through Disney Reservation Center. What you see at DRC is usually owned by DVC and not by members, or traded by members for non-DVC Disney stays (like they wanted to go on the DCL and used points to do that). So DVC takes the accomodations that represents the members non-DVC Disney stay and turns that over to DRC to sell to pay for the non-DVC Disney vacation. They don't give us DCL staterooms for points. They have to be paid. Someone books that stay for cash via DRC and the money goes to DVC (less some fees) to pay for that cruise. And since the villa has already been booked using points (to trade to DCL), that villa cannot be reserved on points again. And if it stays empty, it stays empty.

Also, as new resorts are built and unsold inventory remains, that, too, is turned over to DRC to sell. And then DVC owns a small percentage of the villas to use when they need to take villas out for maintenance and such. If they don't need to take them out of service, they get sold for cash.

The only inventory that is available for a points stay is the inventory owned by members that has not already been traded for a non-DVC Disney vacation.

Thank you very much for your reply... It seems after all these years in DVC we still get fuzzy on a few things. Inventory is the key.... We have used our points on resorts not at WDW the last several years so when going to WDW which is more popular we need to book in our 11 month window..
