Table Size on the Dream

We cruise next week for the first time on the Dream!!

We are part of a large group of 28 consisting of our family and friends! I am the coordinator as we are an official group according to DCL!

My question is about the tables at dinner. I have a phone call out to my group representative, but wanted to get some thoughts from the experts here on the DIS.

How many people fit at a table? I've heard 10, 14, etc. I'm trying to organize our group at dinner and it's a bit tricky. Has anyone coordinated a large group like this before? Can all the kids (12) sit at one table?

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!!

How many do you have to have to qualify as an official group?

I know they have tables that will seat 4, 6 and 8. Depending on space, they can push tables together to make larger tables.

We we first booked 18 months ago, we were told 8 staterooms to qualify as a "group". Then, each stateroom receives a $50 on board credit and you are assigned a group coordinator. The coordinator can help you book excursions as a group, private rooms, etc.

We have the Palo private dining room booked for the last night of our cruise! We don't have any group excursions planned since everyone is pretty much doing their own thing in Nassau and Castaway Cay!

Each group has one representative (me!) who communicates with DCL. It really turned out to be easy as long as you don't mind playing travel agent. Other than the group members being able to pay the cruise fare, all communication goes through one person.

DCL is great to work with and has made the process simple!

Correct. Just talked to our group coordinator and she said the same thing. She didn't mention pushing tables together, though. That would be great since we will end up have 4 tables total. Would love to create 2 large tables!

Just so you know..... you may not all have the same serving team. Each team typically handles 18 people, so with 28 I'm guessing you'll be split between two teams. Are all your reservations linked? That is the only way they know to seat everyone together when they assign tables (usually about 3 weeks prior to sailing).

We had a group of 11 on our last cruise. They pushed two 6-tops together for our group. The folks on the cruise ship will be the ones to determine how they are going to seat your group.
