AP or GP discounts at VWL?

I did some reading and searching here and didn't come up with much information about folks getting AP or GP discounts at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We currently have a rack rate 1BR for the week leading up to Thanksgiving at over $600 per night, tax inclusive. Not really thrilled with that rate, and though tempted, not willing to rent points because of the inability to cancel plans (or am I mistaken on that).

Before we get too set on VWL, just wondering if people have gotten AP or GP discounts there recently. It seems as though the discounts are fairly common at OKW and SS but mixed at the more popular/smaller DVC properties. What also worries me, is in light of the FD dates for Nov, our dates will be completely blacked out from any discounts (11/17-25). I hope the FD blackout dates don't carry over to GP and AP. . .

Thanks in advance!!

The DVC properties are really intended to be close to full occupancy all year round, and the smaller ones often are. And over holidays, more so, especially VWL once Christmas decorations are up.

VWL is very popular with members in November and December, so there just may be very few rooms for DVC to turn over to Disney to book on cash, therefore leading to no need for discounts. The only way VWL rooms can get into the cash inventory is (1) VWL owners have traded out of the DVC system and their points/rooms have been sold to Disney Travel to recoup the costs of that or (2) Disney Vacation Development has turned over rooms that they own to Disney. VWL is entirely sold out, so DVD only owns a limited number of points there.

That is not to say that you will never find a discount, but I think it's less likely.
