Mickey is my favorite character...I have Mickey stuff on my clothes, in my living room, all over...I love him and when I went to wdw in dec. it was my most looked forward to restaurant..I got to see him for a total of 2 min. the entire time...I was soooo sad..I really wanted a longer interaction with him and we were one of the first people of the day...the restaurant wasnt even filled half way up....it was drepressing

This time we're going to try the Goofy's Kitchen breakfast. I'm excited to see how many different characters they have there in all your pictures! I hope we see Mulan, that's DD's favorite movie at the moment.

Thanks for starting this thread, this is just the info I was looking for.
We love Surf's Up.....a really fun meal for everyone!!

Glad you're finding info to help you plan!!

Character meals are for any one that loves the characters!!! I've gone with my kids & with adults only......it's fun either way!!

Nothing like seeing the look on a child's face when they meet Minnie Mouse in person. Priceless.
I have pictures of that very thing......My daughter was in tears as she hugged Minnie!! Very special!!

When it was the WoC dining package, there were no characters.....but since they are no longer offering the WoC at Ariel's, the princesses are there for breakfast, lunch & dinner!!

I'm sorry that it was a short interaction.....especially when you envision something different. I think it's best to go into any character meal with the knowledge that the character will come to your table, sign an autograph book & pose for a couple pictures. Anything on top of that is priceless!!!! (PS: I love Mickey too!!)

Ariel's Grotto

Ariel's Grotto is a wonderful character meal, but it is a lot more regimented and less spontaneously fun than the others. The princess stop at each table, picture, autograph, hug, done. No games or silliness with the characters. For my princess
loving 5 year old however, it was magical. We went to BBB right before for a princess makeover to make it even more special. I thought the food was great (we had lunch). We are going to do it again when we go back in December!

Thank you for the beautiful pics & review!! Do they still do have a "page" or "knight" announcing each princess & teaching the kids how to curtsey & bow??

I was just discussing this with DH last night when deciding whether to go back here. My girls do love the dancing/singing/repeat visits you get at the other character meals - BUT - they actually have time to eat their food at Ariel's Grotto

When we are the others they are either interacting, getting up to dance, taking pictures, or just scoping out who the next character will be to come visit us. At Ariel's - after the last princess comes by - we ALL get to relax and enjoy the food and still have wonderful memories with the princesses.

This is true......it's a very set pattern the princesses do. Not as much "chaos" and actually a relaxing meal. I like that each meal has it's own personality and there's usually a character meal that will fit everyone!!

Wanted to add some of the food pics from some of our trips. These are from Surf's Up with Mickey at the PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier Hotel.

These were from March 2011.

They had a page at the beginning announce right when they all came out but no curtsy lessons when we were there. I think we are going to do Surf's up next time we go especially after seeing your great pictures Diznee!

They seem to keep changing that meal....lol The page did the announcing, they taught you to bow or curtsey and then they even taught you how to dance. It was cute, but I always felt that the diners sitting outside were missing out on the show. This may be why they stopped doing that.

Surf's Up is a fun meal and we love the buffet because it offers different things.

Wow! That food looks good at Surf's Up! For our trip, I narrowed it down to Minne and Surf's Up (DH only wanted to do one). We ended up going to Minnie's, but if I had seen those Surf's Up food pictures before our trip, I probably would have chosen Surf's Up!
