I'm a bit curious about this too. We currently have 2 connecting Cat 5A on the Wonder so I imagine it would be hard to upgrade to connecting concierge rooms. I would love to upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite that could fit all (6) of us, but I doubt they would have any available at the port and if they did, I'm not sure if they could upgrade us because we have 2 different reservations.

Dh and I brought up the same question after we rebooked and left the ship. We are planning to book probably 2 cat 10's next time b/c my son is getting older and it'd be nice to have 2 separate bathrooms. Dh mentioned why not upgrade one of them to concierge if available. First not sure b/c we'd be upgrading quite a few categories and I think the $ difference might be alot? Again not for sure how they figure out how much those cabins are. Is it a flat rate or does it depend on what category you were in to begin with.

Our biggest comment was that only those that moved to the concierge cabin could use those extra services. I am sure the ones "left behind" would not be happy...aka my dh

You are only upgrading 1 cabin to concierge at the port. You will still have the 2nd cabin to use or you could just turn it back into the inventory.
You can't combine both cabins to get a cheaper upgrade cost.

Question is can everyone move to the one concierge cabin? Has anyone done this before? We book two rooms always for extra space and only cabins with more space are the 1bedroom... Rooms that sleep 5 are only around 300sqft vs the 600 in 1bedroom. just curious.... Complications always when you have more than two children LOL!!!

It depends on which cabin.
The 1 bedrooms on the Magic and Wonder sleep 4 or 5, but apparently they'll allow a roll away bed in the suites that don't have a murphy bed. The 2 bedrooms and Disney suites, sleeps up to 7 people.

Just got off the Fantasy on Saturday. I had booked a VGT for our cruise but wanted to upgrade to a deluxe family verandah room. We were on the first Disney bus from the airport to the port and I was first in line for the supervisor once there. I was able to upgrade from a VGT (we had a cat 5c) to a 4A family verandah stateroom. I honestly didn't care about the cost - it was $490 - I just wanted a bed to myself!

I thought that the rules for the IGT & VGT were that you could not upgrade these rates.

There have been reports that some people with the last minute restricted fares have been able to upgrade at the port.

upgrading at port

I am sailing on the 14 night Hawaii cruise in October and right now I booked into stateroom 2045 a deluxe inside stateroom. I wanted to know what the cost might be if I tried to upgrade to a stateroom with a veranda at the port? We would love to have a veranda as it s a very long cruise...? Any help with info would be great as then we would know how much money to set aside. Also so you know we booed this cruise with DVC points so I am not sure if that changes anything..... Thanks!

Welcome to the Cruise Board. This is probably one of the most asked questions on the board. There is no set price that can be given with certainty. The first thing would be IF there are upgrades available. They are not always available on every cruise.

What you have to do is check in at the port first....then when that is done you then go to the supervisor's desk and inquire about an upgrade. The CM will consult a chart that will have the price it costs to upgrade from the cabin you booked to the cabin you want. No one here has that chart but there are several threads of what people paid to upgrade to different categories.

The "average" is about 1/3 of the cost of what it would cost you to upgrade before getting to the port so a good deal....if an upgrade is available.

I found another extensive thread where a guy estimated that it was roughly $100-200 per night per category jump. So from an ocean view to a verandah for a 7 night cruise would be $700-1400. I have no idea if this is accurate. Knowing Disney, they probably have a very sophisticated computer program that generates charts for each sailing based on its specific occupancy.

One way to get a feel for it is to create a dummy booking and see how many rooms of the type you want are unbooked. If only a few are left, you're probably out of luck.

Ok, How do I do that. I just went through and chose the category, and it gave me a suggested cabin, or I can choose a cabin. How do I find out which cabins are "available"
