Well done! You will love it - it's so different to here but still a comfortable place to be, if that makes sense. In my previous life (i.e. before kids) I travelled to Tokyo quite a few times for work and had no problem walking around the city by myself, even at night. And food - every second restaurant seems to be Italian.

Thats what attracted me to Japan, besides Disney of course, is the fact that apparently there is very little petty crime and it is amazingly clean for such a huge city. Seems a little less third world than other Asian countries, along with first world prices to match

Told the kids tonight - and they are super excited, although disappointed I didnt make a grand gesture of telling them. Last time I made a powerpoint slideshow and made them watch on the big screen on Christmas eve.

I am a terrible mother.

Anyway DS straightaway downloaded an app for learning some Japanese. DD remembers how to ask the time from her Year 8 Japanese - so looks like we are sorted!
