How to get to the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre?
I'm looking at the RER timetable and wondering which stop to get off at for the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre - can anyone help?

I assume you mean travelling from DLP, so you'll be on the rer a line, if you look at the Paris metro map the rer A is red. I'm not an expert but I'd get off at Chatelet les halles Or Auber and change to the metro.

Hi Meryll. We did this journey on Wednesday. We got the RER 'A' line to Chatelet and then followed the signs for the yellow line and you get off at Concorde for the Eiffel tower and Louvre Rivoli or Palais Royal Musee du Louvre for The Louvre. It is not as scary as you may think!
Carrie will probably correct us if we have directed you incorrectly as her insider knowledge of Paris is second to none. |

Can you tell me what sort of ticket I need? Is there like a 1 day pass or something?

The best way to get to the Eiffel Tower is to go to the station Charles de Gualle Etoile (not the airport) and change there onto the metro line 6 and go 3 stops to Trocadero. Its then a lovely walk down past the fountains to the Tower. You also get the best views from here of the Tower.
You can then walk along the river to the Louvre If you get a Mobilis ticket this will give you return travel to and from DLP to Paris and unlimited use of the metro through the day Its really easy to find your way on the metro - each line is coloured and numbered and gives the end station as the destination/direction of travel http://www.ratp.fr/informer/pdf/orie...x&nompdf=metro

We did as Small world has suggested last week, definitely get off at the Trocadero stop, the views of the tower are simply amazing, we didn't do that last time and can't believe how much better it is from there, we have some lovely pics. It was really easy to do as well.
We got the Moblis for us adults which was 14.20 Euro each for unlimited travel for the day and the children had the Paris Visite (they don't do the moblis for kids) and it was 10.20 Euros each - age wise was a bit confusing some tickets were for unders 12's some for under 11's and some for under 10's so take your pick .

Hi All,
Just getting back in planning mode again! So there's a ticket booth at the DLP RER station and I just ask for a 1 day mobilis ticket? Also do both types of transport run early to late i.e. virtually all day, or is there a first and last train we need to be sure to use?

They are sold from the machines or from the manned ticket counters. The first RER from MLV starts at around 5.20 am and the last one back from Paris is around 00.20 am so you have loads of time - They run every 15 and it's roughly 40 mins from MLV to Chatelet |
