Strip Hotel Help Please!
I am a first-timer to Vegas and going with 3 girl friends (in our mid-20s). We are on somewhat of a budget, so I think we have narrowed our hotel down to Planet Hollywood, Ballys, Monte Carlo or Paris. Which of these would you recommend for us? Thanks!

We normally stay at the Bellagio but out of the hotels you listed, I think you would enjoy Planet Hollywood the most.

planet hollywood. centrally located with a very entertaining gambling floor and a pretty nice club. especially worth it if the other hotels are within $15 of the cost.
the others may be a bit cheaper, but i find bally's too smoky, monte carlo too disconnected and paris not engaging enough. so if the the others are a lot cheaper then it may be worth it, but i doubt it. |

We did a girls weekend at Planet Hollywood and had a great time.
We had 4 in a room and it was fine. Good location, right in the middle of everything. The only draw back was the pool at Planet hollywood in very small and not very exciting. If you are going for a great pool experience try Venetian or Belliago

You can't go wrong with any of them. Planet Hollywood, Bally and Paris are all in a great central location and they are all very close to each other (Bally and Paris are connected). The Monte Carlo is nice, but it is not quite as centrally located, so I would pick one of the other ones. Bally is older, but there isn't anything wrong with it, if it is cheaper than the others. I think the rooms at Bally and Planet Hollywood are a little bigger than the Paris, which if you have 4 in a room might make a difference. I think I would pick Planet Hollywood or Paris.

You made the right choice!
PH is by far the trendiest, best suited for your age group (though I am 45 & it would be my choice! Good food & shopping right there and Cosmo & Aria right across the street.
Ballys & MC are nondescript; Paris standard rooms make me feel like I am staying in my grandmother's extra bedroom w/ all the floral wallpaper--though the casino is nice.

We liked out 'charlie sheen' themed strip view room @ PH & their buffet is really good, but I wasn't a fan of the go-go girls above the tables in the casino

I would say Paris, but PH would be a close second. Bally's is in prime location, but the hotel is a bit older. We have stayed at Monte Carlo twice, and there is nothing wrong with it, it's just a bit too far down the strip and it's a little bit older.

I would pick Planet Hollywood first, with Paris a close second.

We've stayed at Monte Carlo once and it was ok. I don't really care for Paris as the casino seems old and worn down. Everytime we walk through the casino floor, it seems that something is in need of repair. Planet Hollywood use to be Alladin and I hated it when it was Alladin. We stayed there once when it was the Aladdin and once of the things that I hated about it was the fact that if you self-parked, you had to walk like 30 minutes to reach the elevators and then get to your room. It was designed to basically force you to walk through their shops before you could get to the casino and therefore get on the elvator to your room. Keep in mind that even though you've already booked your room, you should have a very easy policy of canceling. It's usually something like 48 hours prior to arriving. We've canceled, changed, and modified many Las Vegas Hotel reservations so if the Palms does strike your fancy, I would say to check it out over Planet Hollywood. The only negative that might turn you off is that it's not actually on the Strip but it's close enough that a quick taxi ride won't cost you too much unless you're using the taxi during super prime traffic hour. |
