Have a great trip Jean! We've done both Segway tours. The Epcot one incorporates tidbits of info about the countries you may already know -- especially if you did one of the old World Showcase tours. FW was great for us -- but our early trips to WDW involved stays at the campground. I too loved the Wild Africa Trek (for my 60th), and liked the special garden tour, too.

I'm on the lookout for a birthday crown -- wonder where Bobbi and friends found them!

We will be at BWV Oct. 9 - 16 this year. I adore BWV but I am happy to be staying somewhere else solo. I am lucky to get anything with less than a month to go, but I actually had hoped for a Kidani or BLT miracle because I have not stayed at either. But SSR is a beautiful resort and there are counter service options there and DTD for eating, which I find more comfortable when I am solo. DH likes the ease of BWV with the scooter but I like to enjoy all the DVC options.
Oh darn we will be arriving Oct 16 so we will just miss you. We just stayed at SSR in March, it is big but I am getting used to it, we like to stay in Congress Park as we like to walk to DTD and sometimes take the boat over and then ride to OKW or PO...at night they now have entertainment over on the west side, starting with a clasical/new age group in front of Fultons. As for getting things in, when we went last June with our grandchildren and family we noticed that the hours for the parks were longer and there are no MNSSHP closing MK...so I'll bet you can get everything in. There is a nice new pool over in the Paddock area too and a little food place there too. And for us the buses have been improved we never waited long for a bus.
Let us know all about your trip when there and/or return. Have be best time and Happy Birthday and I would wear the crown if you wanted, you are celebrating your birthday!!! Oh and let me know if the boat is back..I was so said about that as it is my favorite part and like you I wave my hands off but it just felt funny waving at people way away on the stage

I have 2 opinions
We had tried usual things to keep them away, including something like coyote urine, it is sold in hardware stores by us

It was a gift from Meriweather. Send her a PM! I'll alert her that you're looking for some!

Or maybe Epcot would work if I do it early when World Showcase is not open? I might save the tea tour until a trip when DH is along. Even if he doesn't want to do it, I can easily hop over from BWV some day when he is taking a nap.
P.S. Glad to hear that I don't need to dress up for GF tea. Thanks for the info, everyone!!
Jean, they only take you into world showcase before it opens. There is, however, a second Epcot Segway tour that does mostly behind the scenes stuff. I can't remember the name, but it delves into some of the "green" things that happen backstage. The great part about the Fort Wilderness one is that you get to ride the big Segways with pneumatic tires. You are off road some!

Congrats Jean!! You'll have a fantastic time! I've stayed at SSR many times alone and have never regreted anything.

Do you like getting "pampered" a little? If so the Spa at SSR is fantastic!!!

Whatever you decide to do you'll have a ball!! This trip will be all about "you" my dear.

The old lady scores pixie dust!

I waitlisted Kidani (never stayed there) and I just got an email that I got a savanna view studio! Cool! I hope I get a room with a decent shot of seeing animals. I may never get back there with DH. As if I weren't already crazy excited!

Hooray! That's great that you got EXACTLY what you wanted! Oh and I just realized our October trips will overlap. DBF and I will be in Disney October 6-12.

Wanted to report that I have booked the Trek at AK and the Segway to FW. I was surprised that there was no discount for the Trek but there was for the Segway. I am still considering the Tea options but I am resisting the urge to over plan and lose all spontaneity on this trip (and the chance to follow my own heart is one of the main reasons I am going solo). I have also requested "close to lobby" at Kidani, based on recommendations I have read on the DIS. Thanks to all for your input!

Congratulations on staying at Kidani!

Make sure you now take advantage of everything that is offered there since you may not make it back to AKV. Talk with the concierge desk to so you don't miss anything.

Some of the not miss things....
The cultural exchange talks are every evening in the library at Kidani are a wonderful to listen to.
Night vision viewing of the animals.
We love eating at Boma and Sanaa offers lunch to Dine with an animal specialist on Wed & Sat if it fits your schedule. (Will need ADR's)

Relax and enjoy yourself!

Love the reason for this trip. May have to consider doing this when I make it to Medicare. Haven't been able to convince my DH to stay at AKV yet.
