hey matthew i suggest stayed at Nikki Beach for next trip, this is fantastic place of vegas.
On my most recent trip of las vegas in this year, I was stay in My favorite place is Nikki Beach Club,
Café Nikki will make its debut on the Las Vegas Strip as a perfect complement to Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The menu offered at Café Nikki is a blend of American cuisine and flavors inspired by international dishes, and the ambition of the food makes it a worthwhile culinary journey.

It is clearly an advertisement. This restaurant may or may not be good.
But to advertise a restaurant is against post rules.

I stayed at Bally's in January - got a lovely refurbished room in the north tower, not far from the elevator. The room was big, clean and comfy, with a view down the side street toward the Rio, and also could see about 1/3 of the Bellagio fountains. I was able to request a coffee maker. Bally's connects with Paris, making more food options and shopping an easy stroll.

Excalibur. We are staying there next year in Sept, but there doesn't seem to be any good things being said about it.Is it really that bad?We are staying there as its cheap for us and we saw a model of it in 1989 before it was built and thought it looked good.A long time ago i know.

Don't be worried

Excalibur is what it is--cheap, basic. It is still safe & clean, but nothing special.
Personally I prefer to be a bit more mid-strip; I typically stay at Harrahs or Ballys (and have stayed at Caesars, Wynn--and nearly every resort in between!) but it looks like Imperial Palace will be the cheapest for me in Oct.--many many people REFUSE to stay there (honestly, I think most of them have never stayed there--many likely haven't even stepped in there!) But many appreciate what it is--cheap, safe, great location. Yes, rooms are basic (Super 8)--but who cares? I spend about 5 hrs/day in my room!
And most would say most would say Excalibur is a step above IP--you will be fine!

We won't be spending much time in our room either,so clean and safe is fine with us.We are pretty near everywhere and will spend most of our time in other casinos anyway.Thanks.

Stayed at the Hilton off the strip last year, not impressed. Dirty room

Stayed at Circus Circus one night this year, also a fairly old and dated and not well cleaned room

Stayed at Ballys for two nights this year, lobby and such was in great shape but hallways and elevators not so much. Our room was huge for a standard room, bed was good enough and the room was pretty clean. Just dated

For our last night we stayed at Aria, This is a nice place. Room was clean, bathroom was great, beds were great. Only complaint was if you removed one of the items in the room(say almonds or something and don't sit them back down quickly you will be charged for them) Had to have three items refunded because we looked at them but didn't use any of them.

Our most recent trip just last month, we stayed at Bellagio for the first time. We had a lake view room...absolutely beautiful. The location is perfect...the hotel is beautiful. This is our new preferred hotel in Vegas

We have also stayed at Monte Carlo a few years ago. It was nice...we had a strip view (this was before City Center was built). Now I would think the view would not be as good with all of the new construction.

Stayed at the MGM Grand in March.

Pros - So much to do in hotel, nice pool area, good restuarants and great if you like sports.

Cons - The sheer size of it. Its absolutley huge and If you dont like walking then the walk from the lifts to the pool is shocking! But you are in Vegas! Everythinng is huge!

Stayed at Polo Towers last tues for one night. There was a big convention in town so most hotels on the strip were $$. We bought the airfare long ago before looking at hotel rates.

We had a 1-bdr suite with a full kitchen. The room looked fairly recently remodeled, king bed in the bedroom and a full size murphy bed in the living room. The only con was the AC was a bit noisy. Otherwise it was a nice quiet place.

Flamingo Go Room - Strip View

Found a really great rate for Flamingo Go Room-Strip View over Super Bowl weekend. Could've booked Harrahs-Luxury Strip View for $50 less and Bally's North Tower or Suite in South Tower in same ballpark. PH has reasonably priced rooms. we've stayed there before but i'm not a fan of the go-go girls @ the tables.

Have been reading some iffy reviews on Flamingo on other sites, mostly common area issues - carpet, condition of standard rooms which do look beat. The Go Rooms are very retro, exactly the vibe I want this trip, and the location is a winner for us too.

Having those dreaded 2nd thoughts& wondering if anybody has stayed @ the Flamingo lately.

Luxor Resort , Pyramid Deluxe room

Pros:

Good size room with good themeing. Nicely layed out bathroom with a great shower. Free internet access ( hard wire ). Eight minutes by cab from airport. Nicely themed pool area.

Cons:

Parking lot is a long walk from checkin. When LAX is open the SE first floor corner can get VERY crowded ( club opens late and crowd forms early ). The Luxor shopping area is "weak" at best. Resort location at the far south end of the strip can make checking out the strip a LONG walk if you don't have a car.

Notes:
Room is sizable and well themed. Bathroom is very roomy with a HUGE shower ( no tub ). Vanity is a single sink but a large counter. Rooms are undergoing renovation as of this post.
The pyramid is layed out very well. Activities all are located in the center on two floors. Casino is on the frist floor. In the corners on the first floor are two Starbucks ( NE and NW corners ), There is a deli in the SW corner and a escalator going to the second floor in the SE corner. Inclanators are located at the extreme end of all four corners of the pyramid, each accesses roughly 10 floors of the resort ( what floor your on will determine what inclanator you need to use to get to your room ). In the casino is the 24 hour resturant and the stairs going down to the buffet along with serveral lounges (3). At locations around the casnio are several sit down eateries. In the middle of the north side of the pyramid is a indoor walkway to Excaliber. On the second floor of the atrium is the ticket center for shows and exibition areas. Also is the indoor walkway going to Mandalay Bay along with the fast food court and another sit down eating venue. Above the second floor atrium level the pyramid soars up 30 stories giveing it a very open feel and a view of the rooms that run the perimeter.

Just got back from 2 nights at Aria - very nice ,very high tech - control everything from drapes to maid service sign from the tv. Confusing bill -- ate at the restaurants 2x and had $100 meal credit and every line item was listed except $100 worth. Took 15 min to figure out if it was right!
Really nice room - we were upgraded to a city view on the 29th floor which was very nice - looked out towards NYNY and at night very cool.
Pools (3) were kind of so-so - nice but no theming or special features. 3 rather large jacuzzis. All closed by 6pm!! That wasn't so nice.
Gaming area nice. Nice art shops and high-end fashion shops very close - and a CVS on the corner. It has a tram to the Monte Carlo.
I'd stay there again at the rate we got. I prefered the rooms at the Encore but it is more expensive and kind of far up the strip, while Aria is really central to everything. And I still think the Mirage has the best pool of all of them.
