Sounds like some fun days you have planned. Seeing the Pandas is cool. They are so beautiful. Shopping, shopping and more shopping followed by eating at a cheap world renowned restauarant sounds like an awesome day. I am trying to plan Easter Sunday here myself. How awesome would it be to be planning it there! I know you will have fun.

Day by Day Account - Day 10


Day 10 and Easter Monday!


If the weather is fine, we will probably head towards Hong Kong Wetland Park in the New Territories.

The Wetland park contains protected wetlands and has a variety of plants, animals and water birds. My dad and I love looking at birds; and I'm particularly interested in native flora and natural ecosystems.

The park includes a visitor centre, complete with hands-on exhibitions and galleries.

So, it sounds like a place that might provide entertainment for 3 generations.


In the afternoon, we might head to the Walled City Park in Kowloon and then meander through the night market afterwards.

Three generations of entertainment for any place is pretty wonderful, I know this place will provide a backdrop for great pictures.

Day 6 and I'm hoping that we'll make it to Ocean Park today. It is located at the Aberdeen/Repulse Bay side of Hong Kong Island and seems reasonably easy to get to via MTR.

Entry fee for an adult is HK$280, which roughly equates to about $40. Entry fee for kids is HK$140 (about $20).

The main reason for visiting Ocean Park will be to see Panda bears. Any of the other shows (birds, marine mammals etc) will be a bonus.

I figure this will be a pretty full day, so we'll probably head back to the hotel and if we haven't already eaten, we can eat at the food court in the Metropolis Mall.

I'll be interested to hear the review of this.

As a big footed tall girl with a chest I didn't find much to buy in the 'good value' department. But you might be the right proportions given your asian heritage.

It's hard to know.

OOp's sorry, didnt notice you mentioned a 10 hr flight. I would be white knuckling all the way. You always find good food. I dont think you will find to much disapppointment.

Been a little time challenged lately.

As for finding stuff....I'm the right height but I think I'll be "horizontally challenged" to find clothes that fit.

I might check out tailor-made if I have time.

Day by Day Account - Day 11


Day 11!


I don't have anything planned today...I kinda figure we might leave a day of nothing planned just in case we didn't hit all the things we wanted to hit so that we can catch up.

About the only thing that I have plans for today is dinner.

One of my first cousins is flying into Hong Kong around noon today with her family. We're going to catch up with her for dinner. She's staying in the Causeway Bay area...so if nothing else, we'll head on that way. If we haven't already found a place for dinner before today, I'll be going there to check out potential dinner restaurants.

I'm really looking forward to catching up with this cousin.

Today, my parents dropped in for a visit. They are so excited about the trip and have ALREADY packed!!
I haven't seen them so excited for a long time, so it brought a lump to my throat to think that they really genuinely want to be on holiday and in Hong Kong with us.



The other thing I found out was that our family TA had contacted her nephew, who lives in Hong Kong, and he sent two 3G SIM cards in the mail for us. We don't know the nephew and the kindness of the act (both on the part of our TA friend and her nephew) was lovely. Even DH was touched!

I know that I'll still have to sort out the price of these with either the TA or the nephew but this means that we'll have Hong Kong local pricing for our mobile phones and not have to pay the exhorbitant intercarrier charges for international roaming calls.




Now.....I just need to get me a new unlocked handset to go with the SIM card!
