I agree with Pecos Bills! I used to love it, but the past few times have been pretty awful.
![]() I ate at CHH for the first time in a while on our President's day trip and I really enjoyed the fried shrimp platter. I think I have a new go-to CS at the MK! Your evening sounds awesome! One of my big regrets from our Oct trip at AKL was that we weren't able to log any pool time. Well I guess it just gives us an excuse to go back. I'm secretly planning a land and sea extravaganza for after DH returns from deployment, and I think I'm going to book AKL. We had so much fun there on our mini trip and I'm sure DS would LOVE the animals!

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the food at Pecos Bill's. We ate there in Nov and had a really good meal. I had burgers at a few different QS places on property that week, and the one there was just as good as any of them. I hope this may have just been a bad day there.

I've been lurking and have now finally remembered to sub! I'm sorry your Pecos Bill meal wasn't that great; we were going to grab some food there our last trip and then skipped it. I'm glad we made that decision!

The alarm went off early the next morning! We had Extra Magic Hours to catch at Animal Kingdom! We both got ready fairly quickly, and had our breakfast on the balcony!
My chocolate chip muffin was so yummy! The only way it could have been better was if I had heated it with some butter, but I didn’t think to grab butter the night before! I had filled my mug with lemonade, and stuck it in the fridge, so I had had that to wash it down! Josh had filled his mug with Coke Zero, and got a huge coffee cake. Josh would recommend the coffee cake, said that it was good sized, and awesome tasting. It was a little cold sitting out there, but this was our reward. We decided that we had time to stop and see the flamingos on our way out! This photo was taken at 7:19, so we were running really early! With the sun rising! We headed to the bus stop, I knew that we were doing perfect on time, because Animal Kingdom is only 5 minutes from the lodge! At the bus stop, Josh took a photo of the vending machines. We met the nicest ladies on the bus who are also pin traders, and talked the whole way there about how we spend all this time and money on pins, but when we get home, they go into a book, and get put away. A very short bus ride later, and we were there! This beautiful tree was still standing! I was trying to so hard to get a good photo of the tree, and a nice security guard showed me exactly where to stand, and BAM I got the perfect picture! There was a Photo Pass person on the other side of the tree, so of course we got a photo! We then headed in right through the gates! I was a bit surprised because it wasn’t quite time for Extra Magic Hours, but my confusion what cleared up when I saw that they were holding us all once we got over the bridge. There was a young guy amping everyone up, having people cheer based on the ride they were dashing for! This is a photo of the crowd, sorry you can’t see much, I am short!! He asked who was headed for Mt. Everest, I got confused and cheered. We were in fact headed to the Safari fist thing! Before we knew it, they were letting us into the park, and off to the Safari we went! The line was moving so fast I was in shock! I had heard that they wait to run the first trucks some mornings, but I guess this wasn’t one of them! We were quickly settled into a truck, and off we went! Continued in next post due to too many photos!!! |

I have a ton of photos from this trip through to share. It was the THE most exciting and interesting trip we have ever taken through! There were animals everywhere and boy were they active!!!
Because we were out so early, we saw people out taking care of the animals! ![]() This is where things started to get crazy! I felt bad for our poor driver! The animals in the big open field area were chasing each other all over the place, it was nuts! They kept jumping in and out of the road, and were just generally going crazy! ![]() Once we got out of that area our poor driver relaxed a little, and we continued to see amazing animals! By some miracle we chased away the poachers, and saved Little Red! From what I have been reading though, this might be the last trip that Josh and I will have a chance to save him on though!!! |

Mmm, chocolate chip muffins. What do you do with the butter and heating it up (I know I'm probably making this way complicated in my head, but I've never heard of that method!)?
So many flamingos! They're penned it, right? My boyfriend HATES flamingos so if he finds out there's a huge flock running wild, I don't think I'll ever get to stay in AKL! ![]() Being a Disney zookeeper has to be one of the best jobs. I'd love to get that close to the animals on a regular basis!

It must have been fun watching all the animals run around on the safari. You got some really good pictures of the animals.

Love your sweatshirt!! There was a little gift shop downstairs in the Polynesian... (OHANA'S YUM!) anyway, I was able to find a sweatshirt there that I hadn't seen anywhere else. We spent quite a bit of time in MANY different gift shops, so I was surprised to find the best sweatshirt there.
Thanks for the info on the lines. I would have felt bad too, but I completely agree that if they had read the sign it wouldn't have been an issue. |

We always make a mad dash to Expedition Everest. By the time we make it to the Safari the animals are usually just laying around. Great pictures from your early morning ride.

Wow, that looks like a fun safari. The driver may have had a hard time getting through, but it would definitely be interesting to see the animals out running and being active.
I can't say that I would be too sad if that story line disappeared.
