The travel agent will receive the tags and then send them to you.

Our flight arrives at 845PM - hubby and daughter will be using DME while son and I grab the rental car. For later flights are the timeframes in which bags will be delivered to room still around 3 hours?

The times should still hold...but remember, it's three hours from resort checkin, not airport arrival. If you arrive at 8:45, you should be at your resort by 10, and your bags should be there by midnight-ish.
If I were arriving at 8:45, and was renting a car, I would most likely get the bags myself, rather than tag them and have DME take them. But, that's just me. |

We have three travelling and received 3 long yellow luggage tags. Do we cut them in half to make 6 luggage tags? Seems to be the way to go, BUT:
The reason I ask is the bar code on each half(if I cut them) of the tag is the same and I wondered if the computer system could handle two bags with the same bar code.

I located this advice earlier in the thread about providing your untagged bag's claim number at the DME desk in Florida. You could call DME again today and confirm this is the right step. I suspect it still is:

They only gave us three tags for 3 adult travelers, one each. I expected two per traveler. Someone said you have to ask for the two per traveler. |

It used to be two tags per traveler -- the post you quoted is from 2006 -- now it's one per traveler unless you request more.

Long story short.....DME used to send two tags per ticketed person. But when the airlines started charging for those second checked bags, people stopped using the second tag...just tossed them out. So, DME decided to be proactive and started sending just the one per person. If someone needs more than that, they can call DME and get more. But, you do have to do it ahead of time.
If you want to pick up your own bags (untagged) at baggage claim, that's fine as well. You can take them to the DME bus with you. They will go beneath the bus you are traveling on. Or, you can bypass baggage claim and head directly to DME checkin. They will copy your baggage claim receipts, take a description of the bags and they will have someone collect the bags for you and have them delivered to your room. You don't go to baggage claim, get your bags and then bring them, with you, to DME checkin, and then have someone else take them and deliver them to the resort for you. Just wanted to be sure that was understood. Don't want any misinformation out there. |

At what point would you call/question where your DME tags are? We have ALWAYS received our tags no later than 45 days out. We are now at 35 or so. With the holidays in there, I know some mail might be slower. But was curous as to when I should check in with my DU agent.
Thanks!! |

opinions needed. cutting it too close?
I'm sorry, I've relaly tried to find what I was looking for, but when a thread gets this long, it's hard. I'm sure the info is in there.
I know the DME info says you get a departure time and place the day before you leave, but that puts you within the 24 cancellation window for ADRs. I know it also said it's generally 3 hours before your flight. I've read though that it can be as little as 2 as well. I'd REALLY like to have an 8:40 breakfast at Crystal Palace w/ just me and hubs (so we'll not take more than about 40 minutes) and I'm pretty certain we could be back to the BLT/CR where we are staying by 10am and we'd leave our bags w/ bell services before we went to breakfast. BUT, our flight leaves at 12:45pm. I WISH I could have gotten a later flight, but it is what it is. I'm not one to push things but since we won't have the kids with, I'm trying to cram in all I can. Do I have a snowball's chance? Will the DME people at MCO or the desk people be able to tell me more about the time to expect? or should I not bother w/ that last ditch attempt at a meal? NO WAY will I do CMs, that'd be so much simpler though. *sigh*
