I'm with you. We just got off the Dream, not quite 3 weeks ago, and we are anxious to book too. We didn't book on the ship and we should have.

I hope DCL learned their lesson about lumping Silver with the general public!

Haven't seen anything about them adding early booking as a silver perk. But then, they certainly didn't notify anyone when they downgraded the gold/platinum shopping perk.

I would think that they would give silver a day or two before, I understand that Gold & Plat would be first (being they've been on so many cruises with DCL)... can't wait until I've reach my 6th cruise I guess to be on the next level...

What is this? We just became gold & saw a shopping perk on our last cruise but we didn't buy enough.

It used to be a $25 stateroom credit for a $100 purchase (which is why you probably didn't use if if you didn't have purchases totalling $100). I remember adding an $8 item to bring my total to the $100 amount so I could get the discount/obc.

Now is is 10% off most items in the stores (regardless of amount spent), which is a nice thing for those just buying an item or two. But, it sure was nice being able to pick up two Dooney wristlets and saving $25. A 10% discount, sure ain't a 25% discount!

It may be that computing the discount and applying it to the stateroom account was a hassle and people who weren't buying a lot were not able to get any kind of shopping perk, and it sure is nice to get SOMETHING.

(Also the discount does not apply to the shops on Castaway Cay, fyi)

Do you think that the Magic will do the 5 nt in 2013?

I would like to pick the 5nt on the Magic and 7 nt on the Fantasy ....
hoping for a B2B.. am I hoping for something that won't be happening?

When did this change? We just sailed the 3-nt Sept 29 and the shopping offer was a $25 obc for spending $100. I tried to save our purchases for the last night but still didn't come close. It would be nice if they let guests choose either option once per cruise.

I can't see the Magic and the Fantasy being based in the same port in 2013.

We just did the Mexican Riviera on 10/2. We are platinum cruisers and the discount in the shops was 10% off (almost) anything you bought.

As a matter of fact, the first night I was in the shops, I was "struggling" with making it to the $100 mark (had like $92 worth of stuff) and the store cast member came up to me and told me about the policy change. I thought it was cool (not having to spend $100), but now I realize that it wasn't---since the old way was $25 off and the new way is only 10%!

Quick question, I am now gold and thought that I read somewhere that I can only book over the phone when early bookings open to platinum and gold. Is this still true or will the system realize that I am gold and allow me to book when I log in?

As of right now, you still need to call in. Could DCL make web changes to allow web bookings? Possibly but I wouldn't count on it. The folks in their web department don't always seem to be the sharpest knives in the drawer. I could see them trying to set it up for Plat & Gold, screwing it up, and accidentally opening booking for everyone.
