Hi there!

The bag is probably of a medium size. If we were to have taken part of that special offer, we would've probably put our underwear and shirts in there. I don't have a picture of the bag unfortunately. It wasn't small, but it wasn't large either.

Thank you so much for sharing your photos! I was definitely sad that we didn't have a proper "sail away" experience! It was so weird being trapped inside and not having a sail away party! We totally would've been waving from the top deck. But gosh those love bugs were quite horrendous, weren't they?! Was it weird not seeing anybody on the top deck waving?!

DAY 7 - May 20th, 2011 - Day At Sea #5 (Part 1)

DAY 7 - May 20th, 2011 - Day At Sea #5 (Part 1)

We slept in a little bit today, so that was quite lovely. Our alarm went off at 10:15 and we proceeded to get ready. Today was going to be quite an exciting and eventful day! Since it was May 20th, we would be able to attend a “Movie Prem-Ear at Sea”!

But, before we that, we had some things to do! First? PALO BRUNCH! At 11:20, we made our way upstairs for our 11:30 reservation. We were promptly seated and Mirko (our server from dinner) was our server again. PICTURE TIME!

Complimentary mimosas!

Buffet:

Made to order selections:

Chicken parmesan over risotto:

Veal saltimbocca:

My dessert selection:

As we were enjoying our Palo brunch, there was a Q&A session/autograph session going on in Rockin’ Bar D with Alton White (the “Mufasa” from The Lion King on Broadway). James and I went straight there from brunch (we finished at 12:30), while Mom and Dad went back to the room to change.

When we arrived, the Q&A was over, but he was doing autographs! They had a number system going on, so we grabbed a number (#83, and they were on #20-40 right now). Within 15 minutes, Mom and Dad joined us in Rockin’ Bar D and we sat around waiting for our number to be called. At about 1:40, we were finally meeting Alton White. If I remember correctly, we were the last group or the second to last group. He was incredibly nice and seemed happy to be there! We got our autographs and went on our merry way.

DAY 7 - May 20th, 2011 - Day At Sea #5 (Part 2)

DAY 7 - May 20th, 2011 - Day At Sea #5 (Part 2)

As we left Rockin’ Bar D, we went by Lumiere’s and I snapped a picture of tonight’s dinner menu.

We went back to the room to change out of our brunch attire and then made our way to Sessions to play Phase 10. Now, as you know, Promenade Lounge is normally where we end up, but I must say, Sessions was quite lovely and peaceful! It was about 2:00 at this point and the bartenders were beginning to set up for the martini tasting.

James and I were actually signed up for this tasting, and we were excited for it to start! In the meantime, we continued to play our game and at about 2:45, Mom and Dad left and James and I made our way to the tasting area and secured a couple of seats.

The tasting started at about 3:00 and last a little over an hour. I accidently spilled one of my martinis while trying to take a picture! Oooops! A bartender came over and helped us clean up and then brought over a replacement one. At the end of the tasting, all of us received a fifth martini: Wedding Cake. Yum! Go us! Picture time!

After the tasting, we met up with Mom and Dad and went upstairs for some grub (gotta soak up that alcohol!). While upstairs, we noticed they had a cart full of blankets for the taking while on the open deck. It definitely was a little cold up there.

By 4:25, we were making our way to the Walt Disney Theatre for the “Prem-Ear” of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” A line had already formed at this point (not surprising).

The line in front of us:

The line behind us:

Some of the technicians were setting up the display at this point as well:

The doors opened at 4:40 and we were able to get seats in the center of the last row of the lower section. It was just James and I...I think Mom and Dad went back to the room to relax. The movie started at 5:00, but before it began, there was a surprise guest!

We enjoyed the movie and there was a big reaction from the audience in the opening scene. As the scene began, it flashed along the bottom where it was taking place: Cadiz, Spain! What a coincidence! We would be there is just a few days!!! That was a fun little moment for everyone.

By 7:15, we were exiting the theatre and making our way back to the room to change for dinner. Along the way, we found Max in the lobby!

DAY 7 - May 20th, 2011 - Day At Sea #5 (Part 3)

DAY 7 - May 20th, 2011 - Day At Sea #5 (Part 3)

At 7:30, we were back in the Promenade Lounge with Mom and Dad continuing our Phase 10 game from earlier. As we were playing, “The Wheel” game was going on, hosted by a couple members of the Cruise Staff. About 30 minutes later, we started making our way towards the lobby. The doors outside Lumiere’s opened at about 8:25, and in we went!

Tonight was the rotational dinner menu which is VERY similar to the rotational dinner menu for Triton’s on the Wonder.

For the first course, James and I both got escargot:

Dad got the applewood smoked bacon and wild mushroom tart:

Next, James and I got the french onion soup:

For the main course, Mom and Dad got the beef:

I got the lobster macaroni:

And James got the duck:

He didn’t like it at all, so sent it back and got the beef instead. He normally enjoys duck, so this one must’ve been pretty bad for whatever reason.

Dessert menu:

Mom’s sundae:

James and I got the creme brulee:

Dad got the souffle:

As we were enjoying our dessert, we had special guests! Belle, Beast, and some court dancers arrived and waltzed for us!

By 10:00, we were leaving Lumiere’s and heading back to the Promenade Lounge for more Phase 10. We also got on the internet at this time and the internet connection wasn’t too bad, surprisingly. At about 10:45, late night snacks were set out, so of course we got a plate!

Shortly after getting that plate, cheese sticks and chicken fingers were added! Two of my favorites!!!! So, of course we grabbed some of those items as well!

It was after 11:30 when we left the Promenade Lounge and went to our rooms to retire for the evening.

At about 12:00 (1:00am after moving our clocks forward), we were crawling into bed. I actually was getting a migraine at this point and my throat was starting to feel scratchy. Oh no! I popped some pills and hoped that I wasn’t getting sick. What an awful time to get sick!!!! Stay tuned...

We did save all the Navigators and placed them in a big ol' binder. Scanning all of them would take an insane amount of time (since each Navigator is 4 pages), so I'm not sure if I'll get around to doing it. I really want to share them though...just wish it didn't take so long to scan, save each file, and upload, haha.

DAY 8 - May 21st, 2011 - Day At Sea #6

DAY 8 - May 21st, 2011 - Day At Sea #6

I look at the clock and it’s about 11:00. Wow! Another day of sleeping in fairly late! I crawl out of bed and start to get ready for the day. Unfortunately my scratchy throat got worse, so I knew it was time for me to pop pills every 4 hours! I wasn’t going to let it get the best of me!

As we were getting ready, I decided to snap a picture of our voyage across the Atlantic! We’re almost there!!!

At about 12:15, the four of us head up to Topsider for lunch. The theme today was “Tex-Mex.” We actually didn’t know that until pretty much after we ate. As we were eating, we weren’t too excited about the meal though. (I guess we learned our lesson...check the board outside to see the theme before going inside!) Anyway, here’s my “scrumptious” plate of food:

I just HAD to take a picture of this section of the dessert area:

I was amused by the fact that for the “Jell-O” it said “Jelly” and then the brownie wasn’t just any ol’ brownie...it was an “American Brownie”! Hahaha...it’s the little things in life that amuse me I guess!

After spending 30 minutes in Topsider, we went down to the Promenade Lounge for...wait for it...more Phase 10! While in there, they were having a tote bag making session and a Spanish class. After a few hands of Phase 10, we decided to get the drink of the day! Today’s drink? “Land Ahoy!” How fitting...we would be on land again the next day! We weren’t sure what was in the drink, so we asked before getting it. The drink consisted of tequila, Chambord, orange juice, pineapple juice, and Sprite. I don’t enjoy tequila, so I’m not sure why I got this drink, haha.

At about 3:15, Mom and James head to Rockin’ Bar D for Mega Jackpot Bingo (oh boy...knowing our streak, I’m not sure if this was going to be a good idea...) and Dad and I go to our rooms to drop stuff off before our beer tasting! (Happy Belated Birthday, Dad!)

On our way to Diversions for the tasting, we stop by Rockin’ Bar D to wish Mom and James luck. At 3:45, we entered Diversions and grabbed a seat. There were only 8 place settings! At 4:00, the bartenders begin, and invite us to come up to the bar for a more intimate experience (since there were truly only 8 of us in the tasting, and after we started, 2 more joined). The tasting consisted of 5 different beers: Stella Artois, Sam Adams Boston Lager, New Castle, Blue Moon, and Guinness. I really enjoyed this tasting, and Dad did too. I hadn’t experienced much beer before this, so I was loving deciding what was more my cup of tea by doing this tasting. I hadn’t had this much beer before, so I was definitely feeling quite good by the end. And, though I really didn’t enjoy some of the beers, I sure did drink every last drop! At the end, they were refilling glasses from the left over open cans they used. So, I got a refill of the Sam Adams (don’t remember what extra one Dad got). Ok...enough description of the tasting...how about some pictures!

The bartender showed how you could do half and half with beers! This is Guinness on the bottom and don’t remember what’s on top. I’m also sure this had a term or name, but of course I don’t remember that either:

The whole tasting lasted about 45 minutes. Once again, I REALLY enjoyed this tasting. The bartenders were phenomenal and I learned a lot of fun information! As were were finishing up, I was definitely feeling REALLY good (I mean, I had 6 glasses full in that time frame) and Mom and James entered as their Bingo fun had ended. Guess what? They didn’t win a thing. Boo!

Standing up from the bar to leave was quite humorous. We decided getting some food in our system would be wise. So, up to the top deck we went! We got pizza, burgers, and chicken fingers, and kinda just ate a culmination of that to help soak up the alcohol. Afterwards, we go to our favorite spot: the Promenade Lounge! At this point, it’s about 5:30. We play some Phase 10, listen to Midtown, and spend a few minutes on the Internet checking our e-mail. Once 6:45 rolls around, we decide to head back to the room to start getting ready for tonight’s semi-formal dinner!

At 8:10, we’re on our way downstairs to Parrot Cay for the Transatlantic dinner. Just before 8:30, the doors open up and off to our table we go!

The menu:

Cheese and bacon tartlet:

Crab legs:

James’ Asian salad:

Marianne posing for us:

Mushroom pasta with chicken:

LOBSTER!:

Pork:

Dessert menu:

Mom didn’t like the dessert choices, so Marianne brought out a Mickey Bar!:

Dad’s butter pecan sundae:

My cannoli (YUM!):

James’ trio:

At about 9:45, we were leaving the restaurant and heading back to the room.

Tomorrow, we would be in Funchal, Madeira! LAND! So, we needed to make sure we were well rested (especially since we were going to be up early)! By 11:00, the TV was off, our breakfast room service selection was hanging on the door, and the lights were off! We were all VERY excited for our first European port! Just a fair warning before the next installment: there will be LOTS and LOTS of pictures! I apologize in advance. I just wanted you to be prepared! I mean, come on...how could I not take a bazillion pictures?! You have been warned...

The mixed beer is called a Black and Tan.
