We are in the air somewhere between Charleston SC and Savannah GA. We should be back on the ground in about 45 minutes - not soon enough to suit me. David's been nagging me a bit; he doesn't understand how much I dislike flying. I will be VERY glad when this bit is over.

Hope you landed safe.

Looking forward to your reporting.
We were there the same week 11 years ago today-and had a great time.

We did indeed arrive safe and sound. We got to our resort - Westgate Town Center; this is the first time I'm staying at this particular Westgate property, and it's really gorgeous. We got unpacked and headed out to CVS to pick up sunscreen and lotion and so on. We then headed over to meet Illinoisboy29 at DTD for dinner at Raglan Road. After dinner, we dropped IB29 back at his hotel and ran over to Publix to stock the fridge - mostly breakfasty stuff and lots of water (we brought reusable sports bottles from home to reduce the expense of buying water in the parks).

Tomorrow, we are off to Animal Kingdom. David told me I can wake him up by 830, if he isn't up already on his own.

How far away are you from WDW.

My dh has a convention down the road from Sea World and I stop in at the Publix and the newly opened CVS across the street from Sea World. I just wonder if these stores are the one's everyone stops at or do they go to others. I used to fret about not staying on property and having to drive around. But now that I've done it a few times, it is way easy.

When I was at Westgate Lakes, I used to shop at the Publix on Central Florida Parkway, down the road from SeaWorld. Now I'm at Westgate Vacation Villas and Town Center, which is just off 192/Irlo Bronson, just south of Animal Kingdom; there's a Publix about 2 miles west on 192.

Even the one time I actually stayed on property, I had a rental car; I couldn't tolerate standing around waiting for the buses.

Day 1

We got out of the resort by about 935; pretty good for us, actually, as David is decidedly NOT a morning person. We got to Animal Kingdom in short order (although my GPS routed us to the cast parking gate, so we had to double back).

While we were waiting for Illinoisboy to join us, I bought a hat - I have a lot less hair on top than I used to, and David was nagging me to avoid getting a sunburn. We headed up into the park, first stopping for FastPasses at Kilimanjaro Safaris (which had the longest wait times). We strolled through Pangani Forest, then stopped for a coffee and a snack. We rode the Safari, then crossed over to Asia to get Expedition Everest FastPasses. We stopped into Yak & Yeti for lunch (lettuce wraps om nom nom), then crossed to Discovery Isle to see It's Tough To Be A Bug. After Bug, we wandered over to Dinosaur, which only had a 20 minute or so wait. We headed back to Everest, which I rode mostly with my eyes closed. None of us wanted to do Kali River Rapids, nor did we have any interest in the stage shows, so we decided to call it a gay day. We're back at the resort; David's going to take a dip in the pool while I take a nap. Dinner at Fulton's Crab House at 550pm, then back to the room to change for Riptide. I'll link to pictures when I get them uploaded; keep an eye here for an edit.

ETA: All of the pictures will eventually show up in the album at http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/h...sney June 2011, organized by day; today's pics are at http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh48/DrGaellon/Disney June 2011/June 2-3/

Did you see the baby gorilla?
I was so bumbed because I missed her and the baby elephant.
That is why I always say, you have to do everything twice at AK.

Yep, it is Florida Parkway.

I feel David's pain as I am not a morning person either.

Kali River Rapids and I have an understanding that neither one likes the other....

We did not! She must've been hiding. And the only baby elephant we saw was the animatronic one in the truck at the end of the safari ride.

We had dinner last night at Fulton's Crab House at Downtown Disney (the black cherry mojito was tasty but not potent at all, and the Tollhouse Cookie sundae OMG). On our way back to the car, David snapped some shots outside World of Lego, so I added them to yesterday's photo album. http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/h...11/June%202-3/

Sounds like you're off to a good start!

I ate at Fulton's for the first time last summer. I was in DTD and suddenly felt like lunch, so I ducked in on a whim. Nice place!
