I have to laugh at the whole argument. If you were staying at the Ramada would you expect to walk across the street and swim at the Hyatt? You'd never even think to do that. I'm not sure why people think that Disney should be any different.

Bottom line is there are rules and until one of us is put in charge of changing those rules ... you have to swim where you live!

Well, the reason is probably people think of Disney as one entity, just like they think of the Hyatt as a separate entity from the Ramada. They don't think of Disney that way. And there ARE exceptions too. DVC members staying on their points can pool hop (except during blackout periods like spring break) to any other Disney resort. And I think Yacht Club can share with Beach Club. I've only pool hopped a couple times as a DVC member... to the Grand and to the CB, but both times were because we were enjoying the pool with friends who were staying at those resorts. Otherwise, it takes alot of time to shlepp from one to the other.

I do know that DVC members are NOT allowed to use Storm Along Bay pool at the YC/BC unless of course they are staying at BCV's.

That also includes the pool at Bay Lake Tower so it's only for guests staying there.

Also Universal allows pool hopping at all 3 of their resorts,which may be furthering the confusion...I have actually stayed at all 3 Universal Resorts,but never really felt the need to pool hop,because all 3 resorts have such nice pools....

Yes, besides black out times (which are mostly holiday weeks), we can't use Stormalong Bay or any BC/YC pool, The pools at Bay Lake Tower and Animal Kingdom Villas and Lodges. I hope its not a trend on new resorts. We can hop to Saratoga, Old Key West, Board Walk (although their maniacal clown is ), Wilderness Lodge, and the other Disney pools. We can use Contemporary's pool (but its boring), but not BLT, The Grand Floridian, Poly, CBR, CSR, POFQ and POR, as well as Value pools. I don't really see the point unless you're visiting with another resort guest at those resorts. I heard on the podcast that Poly has started wrist banding like the BC does, but I don't know how that effects DVC pool hoppers.

This is just a guess but if the Polynesian has started to use wrist bands then they would only want guests staying there to use their pool, because why else would they be giving them out? Even though DVC members could pool hopp there before in the end anyone staying there should have a right to the pool chairs and I guess you can blame those guests who went there illegally to swim who spoiled it for the DVC members.

I suppose if we still have the priviledge, they could wrist band us too. Before diving in, we're supposed to ask the life guard if it is ok for us to pool hop. We'd have to show DVC ID to the life guard. The plan is that if the pool isn't too crowded, then the hopping is allowed. Both times that we pool hopped, to the Grand Floridian and to the Caribbean Beach, it was not at all busy by any means.

But my point was they obviously started giving out the wrist bands for a reason because there was no chairs and etc left for guests staying at the Polynesian, since there were non DVC members who pool hopp there illegally and I have read their pool was very popular for that to happen.

So the DVC member could get a wristband. The rules are they are currently permitted to swim there as long as it isn't one of the black out seasons and the lifeguard allows it.

That's true, however using that same logic the same can be said for DVC members who would want to pool hopp over to SAB if it wasn't on the no pool hopping list.

Well, yes. Up until this new development, they were only wrist banding at SAB since their pool was so popular and desired. If pool hopping is allowed at a pool that is now wrist banding, then the DVC member, just like the resort guest would show their room card to the lifeguard/bouncer and get a wrist band. Hopefully the lifeguard bouncer knows about the DVC pool hopping privilege. Its always at the life guards discretion. If its pretty busy, even on an allowed time period, they'd have the discretion to say no. Both times that we've pool hopped it was to fairly ordinary pools and it wasn't that busy. The day we went to the Grand, the pool's heater had been out of order earlier in the day, and while working, the water was still cool and the air was cool.... so there were hardly any other children in the water... and no adults!

Not the same logic. Polynesian is currently open for pool hopping by DVC members. SAB is currently closed to pool hopping by DVC members. So DVC members have no choice to ask the lifeguard if they can swim. They are not permitted to pool hop to SAB.
