A solo DDP with a bottle of Antacid - Bula Grill....COMPLETED!!!!!!!

So my trip has been and gone. I have been back for a little over 2 weeks and I have the Disney Blue's

I had an awesome time discovering the foodie delights that Disney offers. I somehow managed to eat my way through the whole 2 weeks with little to no trouble with my band....that was a good thing (but not so much on the scales when I returned).

So here is the pre-planning stage of the trip if your interested...if not, jump right in for the delish dining reviews...

Solo Dining - 28/9 - Fulton's Crab House and Cookes of Dublin

After 5 exhausting but funfilled days in Chicago, I had an early flight and arrived at the OKW at around 2pm in the pouring rain. The heavens had opened up and there was thunder and lightening with buckets of water....timing was awasting...I am not an asprin, I will not dissolve in water...I headed towards Downtown Disney. I was loving the rain, while everyone ran for shelter...I live in a desert and have not seen a drop in 12 months!

Soaked through to the bone, I went in the general direction of Fulton's Crab House. Upon arrival, dripping water everywhere I was shown to my seat by the window with a wonderful view of the lake and the ducks draining.

First up...What to drink?

Something Peachy (can't remember the name, I have it written down somewhere and will update later) It was delish!

Crab Boursin Dip
The famous dip was amazing. I have tried to replicate this using their recipe..nice but not the same!

Appetiser - Crab Cake (super lump crab cake, lightly sauteed and served with cucumber salad and mustard sauce)
Oh so delish, hot and crispy.

Entree - Alaska King Crab Claws and South African Lobster Tail - crab claws and grilled lobster tail, with red skin potatoes and drawn butter

The lobster was tasty and full of flavour and the crab claws were succulent and sweet.

All washed down with a glass of good red wine (I have the name written down somewhere!)

No room for desert yet....it had stopped raining, so I headed out for a wander around DTD before stopping off at Cooke's of Dublin for....can you guess?

Doh Bar!

I only managed 2 bites of it...it was hot, gooey, chocolately but the batter was a little heavy for me and it was super sweet with the good sprinkling of icing sugar on top.

UPDATE: I paid for this meal including the Doh Bar out of pocket. I am trying to save my snack credits for the F&W Festival (and Fulton's is not on the DDP).
My bed was beckoning me....I needed to rest up for my big breakfast date with Donald!

Solo Dining - 29/9 - Tusker House Breakfast with Donald

My highly anticipated breakfast with Donald at Tusker House was finally here. I was super excited to meet Donald and the gang decked out in their safari clothes and I was spending the whole day in Animal Kingdom.

Entering the park early is lovely, stopping to take a quick photo with the Tree of Life and leisurely making my way up to Africa.

On entering the restaurant I had my photo taken with Donald out the front, which I didn't purchase...I had my own camera.

My breakfast meeting with Donald

I was seated in one of the rooms near the door, where I would be directly in front when the characters entered. My server was wonderful and made sure that because I was on my own that she was floating around to take photos of me with the characters.

I had enough time before the characters came around to do a once over on the buffet. Here is what I chose on the first round.

From top clockwise: Bacon; corned beef hash; swwet plaintain; tater tot; scrambled egg; coconut and sweet potato casserole; beef bobotie; cheese blintze; ham with sweet mustard sauce

Everything was tasty except the cheese blintze...not a fan....and I had to be careful with the bready, doughy things as that is what I have huge trouble with!

My second Plate

top clockwise: mickey Waffle; a cube of cheese; mealie pap; sasuage patty; biscuit with sausage gravy

Jungle Juice
Passionfruit orange and guava blend...YUMMY!

Now I didn't actually eat all this. In fact I think I managed about half a plate out of the two put together...a bit of each thing. I did try to take the smallest piece of each thing so not to waste food, but sometimes you just can't help it.

The character interaction was great and I didn't feel like I was brushed aside being on my own. My waitress, true to her word, was there for every photo!

Upon leaving I was able to walk straight onto Kilimanjaro Safari, and as it was early, got to see lots of animal activity!

Fultons was OOP and so worth it (actually I need to go back and edit my posts to clarify what was OOP and what was DDP)

Solo Dining - 29/9 - Yak n Yet Counter Service

After a great morning exploring and riding around Africa and Asia, it was time for an energy boost. As I didn't over-indulge at breakfast (I can't eat to much at the best of times) I headed to my first Counter Service meal at Yak n Yeti. But what to have...I wasn't sure what would go down okay without having to run off to the bathroom (TMI? - please let me explain - life with a band needs lots of planning of menus and for easy escape routes to the bathroom, you just never know what will be a good choice - I have been known to have problems with liquids too...just saying)..enough said!

Living in a country where Pork is forbidden by the majority of the population (although you can buy it here in a hidden away section of the supermarket where I always find that I am buying something naughty - Food Porn at it's finest...I call it Porcineography) I don't often indulge. So while in the States I was indulging the palate. Sweet n Sour Pork was the only option!

Sweet n Sour Pork with rice

I have heard mixed reviews on this, I found it to be your typical counter service style SnS Pork but it was quiet tasty. The pork was crispy and hot and it wasn't overly sweet (and not overly packed with onions and peppers you usually find). I ate about half and 1 mouthful of rice...I wanted more but just couldn't! (I promise I did justice to many other tasty meals!)

Dessert: Frozen Lemonade Cup

Refreshing on a hot day (I only managed about half the cup - those babies hold 3 serves!)

My drink was just a bottle of water. Boring!

DDP: 1 Credit

Coming up a Disney snack in the afternoon.......and a African encounter at AKL!

Solo Dining - 29/9 - Mickey Ice Cream Snack

Nothing better to cool you down! A Mickey ice cream, albeit a very crushed looking one, while watching the Jungle Jam Parade....went down a treat!
