I would think the WL would fill the bill for you. It's under one roof, which make it easier to get around. As others have said, the nooks and cranies are relaxing places. It's just a good palce to spend time. I also like the lake at the WL.

Since you didn't mention exact dates in January I picked Jan. 9 to Jan. 15 for your 6 night stay. The discount cost of the room only is $1,033. This is for a standard room. The AKL for the same period is $1,291 for a standard room.

I would make reservations while the public discount is available. If you happen to change your mind later, you can cancel or change your dates or resort.

Without the discount, the same WL room would cost $1,721 for the same dates. I find that the room only discount is better, for DW and I, than the free dining. This is for a stay at a deluxe.

Have a good time and I hope your DW does well.

If you decide to go with one of the less expensive deluxes, I would suggest WL. The scenery is beautiful, so staying near the resort would be very relaxing. Plus, it's not far from the monorail and MK.

But I would strongly suggest the PO French Quarter(not Riverside). The reason being that FQ is much smaller, more compact, is very beautiful and is just a lovely place to stay.

My vote would be for the POR resorts since you will possibly be spending a lot of time there. Both are affordable, and as sister resorts you can use the amenities at both. There are good dining options there, water mice, a ferry to DTD, and several pools.

I have to agree with most that renting a scooter maybe a great option for your wife so she can keep up with everyone. If you want a resort with many things to do I'd say AKL. But if you want to stay at a mod for budget concerns POFQ is the most compact. IMHO it has great bus service. Keep in mind if you rent the scooter you'll always get on the bus since POFQ is picked up first if the bus is going to POR. Since the PO's are sister resorts you can use the pools at both. There's also entertainment Wed-Sun evenings at both too.
