Loved Chelsea's birthday update, it sounds like she had a great day. I love the gifts from your mom, she obviously puts a lot of thought into the gifts she gives, everything is so unique!

How great that you got her her own camera, can't wait to see her pics!

The whole episode involved my dad telling Connor not to talk with his mouth full, me interceding saying he was trying to tell us he had just lost a tooth, a paper towel filled with spit-out food, blood, and tooth, and me trying to find the tooth in that nasty pile of "stuff."

That's generally what happens when my DD9 loses a tooth. DD7 usually lets it hang there for a couple weeks and then stares at it in the mirror for a while.

Love the birthday party!! I gave DD9 our old small digital camera and she will be taking pictures on our trip. Of course now DD7 wants one. Maybe for Christmas.

Chelsea looks so cute with her glasses! Looks like she had a great 13th birthday!!

The cake looks yummy! She seems to subscribe to the same cake decorating class as my DD6 Miren...you can NEVER have too many sprinkles!!!

I hear ya! Connor has started making "noises" about wanting a cell phone! Why, I don't know! He never talks to anyone on the home phone.

July 18, 2010: Part One

Despite the fact that I had wanted to be on the road by 5:30 in the morning, we were not out the door until 6:30. (That always seems to be the case, and it’s usually because there are a million last minute things to be done.)

We made great time through Atlanta since it was early Sunday, but ended up making nine stops before we reached Disney! What craziness! Chelsea was keeping track and taking pictures at each one. (She needs to work on keeping her camera steady.)

Some highlights of the stops:

A McDonald’s for breakfast. Who knew their coffee drinks were really quite good?

Some random gas station that we stopped at for drinks. There were many of these types of stops.

A travel plaza on the turnpike. At least we were getting closer to WDW.

Charles even made us stop at a Dairy Queen for Blizzards after he saw a billboard for one somewhere north of Valdosta. He was awake the entire time which is just unheard of on a Disney trip. He always sleeps through Georgia from Macon to Valdosta. Instead, he spent those interminable hours complaining about how he wished we would just fly to Orlando.

Connor amused himself with reading for most of the ride. You can see that Charles brought along his pillow even though he didn’t sleep.

Meanwhile, Chelsea sat in the last row of seats in the van and insisted on acting like a modern-day Lady Catherine de Bourgh by yelling from the back, “What are you saying? I can’t hear you! I insist on being included in the conversation!“

Chelsea also amused herself with her camera.

In spite of the million stops along the way, we made it onto Disney property a little before 2:30.

Following the signs for Caribbean Beach:

This is it!!!

Chelsea was snapping pictures like crazy as we made our way towards the Customs House.

Finally! We’re here!!!

Out of the car at last, Connor did a happy Disney dance to celebrate!

The time was now a little after 2:30!

Our first Disney line…

Was our room ready? Where would it be?

UP NEXT: Maybe next time we will listen to the kids!
