Sayhello, I continue to love reading your report. You did have a busy day in Rome! I remember feeling the same way about the gelato stop, although we had two full days in Rome, so when we stopped we didn't feel the same panic. But it took a LONG time for 36 people to order their gelato! And yes, when the only problem is that you have too many gelato stops, you know things are going well!

I'm glad you enjoyed the shop at the Vatican. When we were there it was very, very crowded, and by the time we all used the bathroom (this also takes a while when your the mom of two girls) we didn't have much time to look at the shop. We found plenty of lovely things to buy other places, though - especially Orvieto (pottery) and Venice (jewelry). Sigh. My mom is going to Venice this summer and I gave her a ridiculously specific request about more pretty jewelry from Venice...

Ah, see, we didn't go to Orvieto or Venice. Really, our only shopping day was Florence, and I didn't end up with much time to shop that day. So I was sort of glad we had enough time to shop at the Vatican. Fortunately, it wasn't too busy.

I guess I'll just have to go back some time...

I'm sure we'll post something although nowhere near the detail you have.....I am not sure I would have the energy!!!

Although we are seriously considering doing a blog (with pictures) every day or every other day during our trip so that friends and family here at home can keep up with how our trip is going!
