Mother's Day Brunch

So they have started taking reservations for brunch at the Disneyland Hotel. It's on May 9th at in the ballroom. $69.99/adult (10 and up) and $14.99 for children (3-9). I made reservations, but I am wondering just how worth it, it is? Can anyone comment? My kids are not eaters at all - and will likely not even get their $14.99 worth. Do they have lots characters?

Yeah, not a lot of info about it. Obviously the food will be good, but I am more interested in "what else" they might do to one up a regular character meal.

I cannot believe no one has any info on this but I did some googling around on the internet and found some generally positive reviews. The biggest complaint is the price but the food quality was raved about by most and previous years featured characters and live music and a chocolate fountain which my girls think is awesome so I think we may give it a try.

When I called, the dining people, pretty much read me a script detailing food choices Here is what I remember from her speech: lots of breakfast items/ omlette station/ hot & cold seafood selections / free range chicken/ seperate dessert buffet/ Chocolate fountain /seperate kids buffet. NO WAY my 3 girls will eat enough to justify the price so I am pretty much paying for the experience. Most AP holders do get a 10% discount (Premiums get 15% off) I was unclear if the price included gratuity. I was quoted 69 for adults and 18.99 for kids 3-9. I think she said gratuity was additional. I have a 10 year old who barely eats anything so she may be the reason we cancel this reservation as my husband will flip about paying $69 for her to eat a couple chicken nuggets and a mickey rice crispy .

Anyway, hope this helps and I, like the OP, would love to hear any firsthand accounts of the experience.

I have a 10 year old that does not eat much either and 2 under 10 that likely will eat nothing at the buffet at all. My 10 year old is going to be 9 years old for the purposes of the brunch.

We will be there that weekend and I thought about it.
For about ten minutes.

And then decided unless there is lobster or fresh sushi and free flowing expensive champagne, the price cannot be justified.

We opted for lunch at Cafe Orleans.

I have done this and can share. We had it last year and had a blast. There are over 10 buffet lines scattered about the entire DLH ballroom. 3 of them are Kid's buffets. We were quite satisfied with the food we had, as well as the experience.

Since many folks have expressed concern about the kids, I'll start there. The kid's buffet was cool. At kid height tables, there were mini "bagel sized" pizzas, mac and cheese, mini corn dogs, pasta, salad, chicken nuggets, and a variety of other "picky kid" foods. They even had their own dessert tables, with dirt and worms, cookies, and other items that I have to look at my photos for. My girls thought it was pretty cool.

There were 3 hot stations - 2 manned. Omlette and waffle and carved meats (with amazing sauces), plus a hot line of chaffing dishes. The cold stations were done as a square on one end - with 4 separate lines. One salads, with freshly made ceasar to order, 2 lines for antipasti and cheeses - organic with gourmet accompaniments like honey and such, and 1 for seafood - lobster, snow crab claws, king legs, and smoked salmon with bagel accompaniments.

The dessert buffets were awesome, including manned stations for bananas foster and strawberry crepes to order, as well as a chocolate dipping tower.

One of the bonus features of the buffet is the character meet & greets. Unlimited access to the Princesses, as well as most of the Fab 5. The photo op areas were beautiful - they even brought in Cinderella's carriage - the one they use in the parades and for weddings. Snow White had the cottage and Magic Mirror, Sleeping Beauty had the castle, and Belle had a garden. Minnie and crew were at the other end of the ballroom with a more generic and pretty backdrop. Lines were shortest during the early part of the meal and got longer nearer to dessert. They are still controlled by the number of folks in the room.

There was a TV and photo op for entertaining, while waiting for your table to open (as well as full beverage service for everyone - coffee, juices, teas, cocoa, etc). When you are called and taken to the ballroom, you are shown your table and after you place your drink order, you have at for as long as you want. Mimosas and/or champagne come with your meal and self-parking is included.

I know it's expensive, bujt it really is a great family experience!

Thank you SOO much for this information! This is just what I was looking for! One buffet question-do you remember if there was shrimp (either peeled or peel and eat)? Love my seafood at buffets so the lobster and snow crab sounds wonderful but I have a serious weakness for shrimp, particularly the larger than cocktail size variety .
