I just answer "It's my happy place."
I also will joke that it fits my developmental level and my attention span. That makes people laugh. But, in reality, it's the truth! Remember that scene in National Lampoon's Vacation where they look at the Grand Canyon for a few seconds and Chevy Chase is ready to go? Yep, that's me! I look at the mountains/beach/museum/whatever and say "Yep, that's neat, so what are we going to do now?" And I'm 42 years old!

[QUOTE=Fantasmic23;35627335]:
After the fourth or fifth time of explaining, I was starting to get irritated. /QUOTE]I would hope that after 4 or 5 times of this reaction, I'd quit mentioning my future plans. Honestly, we don't go to WDW or anywhere else every year. We like to see other places but I've found that very few people are excited to hear of other's vacation plans so I never mention mine unless point blank asked. I've actually been asked a couple of times recently about our plans for 2010 but I simply reply that they are still up in the air. I actually do like to hear about other's plans so I ask and then make sure to be a good listener but I actually only know a couple of people who feel the same. Most people, for whatever reason, don't want to hear about other's vacation plans. |

When I saw this question I had to read and respond. I cannot believe so many other people get this response to their Dis-trips. I thought I was the only one! Mostly from family but I have heard friends say it too. I guess I will have to learn from a few of the comments listed here that made me smile
. Either they just don't get it, or they wish they were going too!

What makes me wanna go...
Well when told my husband and friends about where I would really love to go for my 40th birthday, Disney World is the first place that came to mind.
We have perused so many trips..other than Austrailia (which I don't think will ever happen) Disney is where I wanna be. Actually hubby is pretty fond of Disney..makes a 42 year old man feel like a kid again.

Most people who know me just ask me, "So when are you going back to Disney?" and don't give me a hard time. They know that my family and I love Disney and they enjoy the big smile that I have when I talk about Disney. And everyone at work knows to come to me with their Disney questions!
For the Disney-haters out there I just explain that we love Disney. It's perfect for us right now. Relatively short flight, no rental car, no car seats, relatively inexpensive, and fun. My kids may outgrow Disney or they may not. If Disney is no longer a great vacation for us, we'll go someplace else. For now it's an ideal annual vacation. We're a family of 5 and other "equivilent" vacation destinations are more expensive and less convenient. That's pretty convincing for me!!! Amanda

Since I was a teenager, my mother took my sister and I to WDW every year single year. Now that my sister and I are adults, we still continue to go separately every year...twice if we can sneak it in. I find it is easier for my sis to "get away" with telling people that she is going again as she has two children but often replies "why, do you want to come?"
When asked why I still go, I simply reply that where else can I check my adult worries at the door and just enjoy being a kid again? Last year, my fiance fell in love with the DCL and now we're planning a trip to WDW in Dec...he's a Disney newb...but very excited for the experience. Everyone is just jealous.

Alot people will say to me "it's more expensive than [fill in the blank]!".....? Then I ask them if they've checked the prices lately of [fill in the blank].
Most of them have no clue that every other amusement park's prices have sky-rocketed and depending on how long you're at WDW are more expensive on a daily comparison. But the only constant Negative Nellie is my own mother. Because we refuse to take her with us on any more vacations. We've tried more than once, but she's just one of those people that you can never please and you will always do something wrong. I refuse to have my kids' vacations ruined with her griping and negativity! |

My best friend asked me last week if i ever thought of going somewhere else? I said I have been to many of the USA states, the islands, cruises, Europe but I love Disney...especially with my family. Besides it is familiar and comfortable. And each time...planning #13 right now for Jan 2011...we eat some new places and some new things and stay a new place maybe. I jsu like it!!!
Read the book "Mousejunkies" and you will see you don't need to explain

Disney Again??
My DD will be 10 this year and she has been 12 times. We live in IL and drive to FL every year specifically for WDW. As for my family, they are envious!! My co-workers are another story. I always get "What? Disney, again?" So I tell them yep that's where we are going. I don't figure they need more explanation than that. Most of them, the biggest majority of them actually, have never been there and liken it to (can't believe I'm going to type the disgusting words) Six Flags!! I try to "calmly and rationally" explain to them why WDW is different and better. I tell them that there isn't a single thing that they would do on any other vacation that isn't at WDW. Horseback riding? They got it! Swimming/Water Parks? Check! Thrill rides? Yep Golfing? Sure thing... and I'll go on and on with some of them and they've yet to be able to name anything that WDW doesn't have. My biggest plus about WDW I tell them is for some reason a kind of calm, serenity comes over us there. I don't have to argue with my DD and me and my DG-ma don't argue or disagree either. There is just something truly magical about WDW! It must be the Pixie Dust!

Something I have noticed is that most of the "Disney Haters" seem to have their own special place that they go each and every year. Usually Vegas. I like Vegas ok, but I prefer Disney. I just don't go around disparaging other people's vacation choices. Wish they would leave mine alone.

Ya? What's is w/ WDW that people have such an issue w/ I'll tell u it is ALWAYS the people who only go to the magic kingdom or have really short trips. Its always people who don't do the dinner shows or nice meals in WDW. I mean there is more to do in WDW then anywhere I have ever been. I have been to all those beachs u mentioned & yes cape cod & martha's vin have great charm. But guess what? I get that feel @ the boardwalk in WDW or lay on a beach @ the Poly. I can feel like I'm in a different part of the world everyday. Plus I don't suck like the boring people who ask that question. I like to have fun w/o getting wasted at the beach. lol! Don't get me wrong, I love the beach, I just really love a WDW much, much more. Plus those people are prob. really cheap.
