Girls Weekend for Food & Wine Festival

I need some help. A couple of friends and I are planning a weekend trip to the 2010 Food & Wine Festival (Thurs - Sun). We want to make the most our of our short time and within a budget. I've done the Wine Walk at Epcot this past trip, but I am looking for any tips, suggestions, ideas, etc. Is it less crowded at the beginning/end of the Festival? If you find a wine you really like, can it be shipped home?

Thanks for any information

What fun! Last year we went the last weekend of the Festival as well as the first weekend in Oct. The last weekend was far less crowded than the weekend we went in Oct. I'm not sure about the wine shipping. Last year my mom and I did some of the $8 wine "classes". They were pretty interesting. Someone from a vineyard came and spoke about the vineyard and brought several wines and talked about them while we tasted.

My only advice is NOT to make any dining ADRs for the day you do Food and Wine. We stupidly had lunch at Le Cellier and then weren't really hungry to try too much.

Oh and bring lots of money. These are really small pricey samples

It can get really crowded on the weekend, especially in the evenings (since that's when lots of the local folks are attending), so be prepared for that. I would recommend trying to do more events during the day (before the dinner hour), since the lines will be much shorter at the booths.
