Question Magic Kingdom Parking

Is the only parking lot for the Magic Kingdom located at the ticket and transportation center? I found this at the DIS website "At the Magic Kingdom, the lot is located at the Ticket and Transportation Center. Once you park here, you will need to take either the Monorail or the Ferry to the Magic Kingdom." However I thought there was a parking lot by the Contemporary resort. Is the only parking lot that I'm thinking of right by the Park for the Contemporary guests only? If so I have a concern about the parking bc a friend of mine who is going to Disney with us this summer can't take public transportation. I know it sounds a bit odd but he seriously has a psychological fear of it (I forget the name for it), where he has to be the one driving. So the public transportation would not be an option for him since he suffers from panic attacks. I know the park rides maybe an issue for him as well but he just wants to at least be in the park. My DH and I will prob be the ones taking his kids on all the rides. Any information or suggestions would help. Thanks!

The parking lot for MK is at the TTC. The parking lot at the Contemporary is for people staying or dining there. Part of the ferry is open air, he might be able to take that better than the monorail.

Would it possible for your friend to book a stay at the Contemporary? Then he could walk to the MK.
The other 3 Parks, he can drive-park and then just walk into, could be a bit of a walk from the parking lot if he gets there late, but it's doable.

The lots at the CR are for guests of that resort or people dining there. If you are not staying there they will most likley give you a three hour pass and people have reported that they have seen cars towed.

At all of the parks, unless you get there early, you will park and as others have said you will either take a tram or have to walk to front gate.

For Epcot that can be a long walk.

Consider posting your question on the disABILITIES! forum.

Perhaps your friend would qualify for some type of Guest Assistance Pass. They may allow him to park (or valet park) at the Contemporary and he could walk to the MK from there.

Visiting the other parks could entail a long walk if he is unable to ride a tram. Does he have a handicapped plate or card so that he could park closer?

You may be able to valet park at the CR...about $15 a day (or thereabouts). Then you could just walk over to the MK, about an 8 min walk. Paying to valet shouldn't be an issue. But if you try to just self park at the CR, then no...that's not allowed.

Thank you everyone for your input : ) Unfortantly the CR is out of his budget so he won't be able to stay there. Parking at the CR valet wouldn't be a bad idea, would they tow his car still if he was parked longer than 3 hours if he did the valet or would they not even notice/care so much since he paid?

I've never heard of anyone getting towed from the valet lot. I doubt valet parking would be an issue for anyone unless they are going during a very busy time for the parks. Going at a busy time is probably not a good idea given your friend's disability.

Once you pay to valet park, you are free to do what you want, for as long as you want. Now, I'm not saying you can leave your car there overnight, but you can park it at rope drop and then return later in the day to get it and drive away. There are no time constraints on valet parking. But, if it's a busy time of year, they may refuse your request to valet park.

If another driver is going with him, just drive to the drop-off lot past the Contemporary, drop him off, then go park in the lot and take the ferry and meet him at the gates.

Awesome! We will either have him park valet or the drop off is a great idea too! I'll just have him drive his car to the drop off point then my husband can go park his car for him. Thanks you guys this has helped a lot.

Guest Assistance Cards are for use in the theme parks only, so would not help with the parking question.

Just be aware that this is going to add maybe 30 or 45 minutes to your morning and evening trip.

Yeah, but the problem with the Poly drop-off is that the OP's friend would still need to use Disney (public) transportation, which is apparently what they're trying to avoid.

I just wanted to point out to the OP if they opt for the Valet suggestion - the price does NOT include the tip; the money you pay doesn't supplement the valets' income.
