Easter week 2010

Our JetBkue flights are out as well - but I saw the prices and freek out

Our flight down to MCO from NY (Wednesday) is $229 per person and our flight back on Saturday is $429 per person = $658 round trip

Even if we fly a weekday to weekday - it will be $458 round trip

DH may say NO-GO for our next WDW vacation.

AirTran does not fly out of SWF anymore.
We do not want to travel to NYC for a flight.
Our other option would be ALB - maybe SouthWest, but we hate their A-B-C seating rules.

Should we pay the JetBlue outrageous prices ?????

We were going to go Saturday and come home on Easter Sunday - I freaked at the rates!! I ended up purchasing for Monday PM (139) and back on Tuesday (139)- this is still high, but 7 hours after I purchased them they rose to $159 each way! I am hoping there will be promo/sale and we can get a credit, but am settled on what we payed. I did have a $45 credit from our previous trip so that did help some. I think gone are they days of the 79 each way for this time of year

Did you try Airtran from Westchester (HPN)....we found that alot of times when JB is big $$$ Airtran can be less $$$......

It's not just JB. Last year my co-worker tried to use his timeshare Easter Week. Both JB and Continental out of Newark were SO outrageous that week that he changed his time share week to July to save money on airfare (they were a group of 6).

Its not just Easter. We are trying to go the 3rd week of April. We were able to get good rates on Jet Blue last year out of White Plains for the same week. Right now it is close to 800 round trip!

this may not help much- but i am flying JFK to MCO in early dec for $229 on delta. I have never flown Jet Blue anywhere as i always find them too expensive

I was going to suggest Westchster as well. Air Tran and Jet blue are out of there and both go to Orlando.

Based on your choices, seems like yes, you should pay, if you want to go to Disney that week.

I was looking at the end of April to get an idea of what air fair might be when we go in May - Delta wanted something like $379-450 for a direct flight and over $300 for 1 stop.

Jet blue for end of April was like $350 each way

I am hoping that the prices go down or we might not be able to go in May since I don't want to hold DD#2 and we will need 4 tickets.

I am hoping everyone thinks the prices are crazy. If they don't sell, maybe they will drop the price. Will just have to keep watching and hoping at this point.

Don't panic!!
We always fly Jetblue out of Westchester, (HPN).
You can book it now if you choose to, then keep checking as you trip gets closer. I can almost 100% GUARANTEE the flights come down, When they do, just call the airline, and they will adjust the price for you.
This always works for us!! Just keep checking. It sometimes takes a up till a few months before departure date.

Good luck!! And Yes, that is outrageous!!

Airlines are reducing service to destinations like Orlando that only sell at deeply discounted (money losing) fares.

SW eliminated N/S flights from some airports to MCO.

The OP is unwilling to fly out of NYC. Doesn't want to fly Southwest (assigned seats). Wants to fly on a prime date. Sounds like the OP either needs to be more flexible or needs to be willing to pay $.

High fares on peak dates makes possible lower fares for the dates many of us fly.

I just checked and JetBlue out of LaGuardia and White Plains is much more than the fares for Delta out of Bradley and they have better non-stop times.
