DLRP is very beautiful indeed! They really tried very hard there to built something that can compete with the real life quaintness of Europe

I'll bet the coffee was good there too...
It was a beautiful place! The sad thing however was that Köpenick used to be part of East Germany and even twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall (that was in November 1989) there were still streets that looked very run down and poor. We still have a far way to go until we reach equal standards of living in the former east and west.

The coffee was wonderful!! They had gourmet coffee and I had some from a place in Guatemala.

I thought the half pieces were such a good idea!

They look great, don't they? Actually they are just plain meringues.

How was the coffee there? Nothing beats coffee with dessert.
The sugar bowl was really cute and the amazing thing was: every table had an individual one and all were beautiful!

How lovely to plan a trip with your sister. As a sister myself, there is nothing better than a "sista" trip as we call it. We are still hoping, someday, to do one to WDW.

I Teva Mush (have a pair)

and Keens! (have 2. should have 3 but one is mia)

I have not seen the canvas tennis shoe version before though, those are absolutely adorable!

Bring layers, at that time of year you can have swings from 50-80F! We did.

Loving the report so far. When we visit my brother, likely 2011, I hope to hit DLRP (though am keeping that idea from DH for now lol)
Bad Windsheim is really just around the corner of Nuremberg! Visting him should be an interesting trip, there is a lot to see in Bavaria!

Thanks for the nice comment on my shoes. My DBIL (even though I am not so sure about the D at the moment due to the following comment) said yesterday that they remind him of Samson! Samson is the main character in the German version of Sesame Street:

Actually I think there is some truth in it, those Keens are rather wide shoes!

Sorry!! I think bakeries is really something we are pretty good at here in Germany! For some strange reason however, at the moment American baked goods are becoming very popular. While I love muffins, I am a bit sad if they make tradition German cakes disappear.

Films

Today it is exactly 6 months until we arrive at WDW (don't know why the ticker says differently )!!

In order to be fully prepared I put together a list of films we might want to see before our trip! Some of those we might have seen already, but I tried to put together a comprehensive list as we might want to refresh our memory on the one or the other film. K and I are both customers of a local video store which has an incredible library of films. They started out with VHS tapes in original languages (mainly English) as nearly every film in Germany is dubbed into German. Of course today with DVDs you normally have different languages available, so it is no longer difficult to get to see the original. However, they kept their concept of a film library and you can get nearly everything that exists on DVD. So the list in our wiki only has those films that are available there. The ones that I did not find there were Beauty and the Beast and Swiss Family Robinson, but otherwise that's what we can see before our trip:

Magic Kingdom
- Cinderella
- Snow White
- Sleping Beauty
- Alice in Wonderland
- Peter Pan
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Aladdin
- The Little Mermaid
- Dumbo
- Pete's Dragon
- The Sword in the Stone
- Lilo & Stitch
- Monsters, Inc.

Disney's Holywood Studios
- Donald Short Films
- Mickey Mouse Short Films
- Pluto Short Films
- Silly Symphonies
- Mary Poppins
- Toy Story
- Toy Story 2
- The Incredibles
- WALL-E
- Cars
- Ratatouille
- The Wizard of Oz
- Indiana Jones 1-3
- Singin' in the Rain
- Star Wars Episode IV, VI
- Twilight Zone
- High School Musical 1-3

Epcot
- Three Caballeros
- Finding Nemo
- Apollo 13

Animal Kingdom
- The Jungle Book
- A Bug's Life
- Lion King
- The Living Desert (that one is only available on VHS tape)

Miscellaneous
- Aristocats
- Bambi
- The Rescuers
- Bolt
- 101 Dalmatians
- Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
- Mulan
- Pocahontas
- The Lady and The Tramp
- Enchanted

Any other recommendations???

That is quite a list! It would easily take me longer than 6 mos to even put a dent in it! Did you have Tinkerbell in the list? I can't remember - I love Tink and I think the movie is so well done. The new one comes out in a few mos so I actually can't wait!!

Gute Abend!

That's a great list! I'm going to have to catch a few of those myself. I'm very excited. I've never seen Swiss Family Robinson, and just realized last night that it's going to be playing on Turner Classic movies Friday night. I made sure to set my DVR already.

Wow-that's a pretty thorough list...you'll have a good time making your way through those-I really love the classic stuff-the Silly Symphonies, Fantasia, Snow White-gorgeous animation-so pretty...Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Alice...

Nightmare before Christmas comes to mind-while not classical Disney-you see a lot of Nightmare merchandise in the Studios and I think he (Jack) is out for the Halloween Party...

Its all very creatively done...

Have a fun Film Fest....

Flossbolna, I would be so excited if they re-did Fantasyland. I used to love the submarine ride at Disneyland, so if they resurrected it somehow, that would be wonderful (I think they converted it into a Finding Nemo ride at Disneyland). I like the Barnstormer, but I think it's only about 30 seconds long. My older daughter, who loves roller coasters, could only say "that's it?" when it was over. She's iffy on whether she wants to tackle Space Mountain, so I'm not too upset that it will be closed when we get there in a few months.
And that's sweet that you wanted to play with your sister. My younger daughter keeps wanting to take home a different baby because her brother is too old now (he's not even 2, but I guess she's a fan of the very little ).
I had to add this tidbit - my husband just sent me this link and it looks like the rumors may very well be true!

Wow! That is a big list! Do you think you'll be able to tackle a good number of them?

I would also suggest Pinocchio...but that's the only one I can think of that isn't already on your list!

LOVE your movie list! I am proud of myself b/c I have actually seen ~15 of those movies. I've been thinking I need to catch up too so your list will be a perfect tutor for me!
