Private messages is a way to communicate with a certain person. Simply click on the name of the person and you should see a link for sending them a private message and/or email.

First off, welcome to the DIS! The pictures underneath the usernames are known as avatars. To add an avatar:
1. Go to "User CP" (located on the top bar of the DISboards)
2. Then on the left side, under "Settings & Options", click on "Edit Avatar".
3. On the avatar page you may choose a standard avatar from the ones available or you may upload your own image to use as your avatar.
