Paradise Pier
You guys are going to so tired of my questions...
Just talking with TA and she was gave me rates for all 3 Disney properties and said she could upgrade PP to concierge services for 120.00 total. So had not ever thought of considering this hotel or upgrade... Thoughts??? |

![]() I have never stayed in PPH concierge, but I have stayed at the PPH many times and I like it. It doesn't have the same grounds that the DLH or the GCH have, but you can still enjoy those even if you stay at PPH. PPH is very cute, with all kinds of sun/surf/beach/nautical touches in the hallways and in the rooms. Lifeguard Mickey lamp, surfboard room number sign, seashell soap dish - that sort of thing. Oh, and PPH also has the Mickey ears bath products in the bathrooms, just as DLH does. Here is a thread with some concierge food photos from all 3 DLR hotels, courtesy of Pycees312: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2181963.

Also how many are in your party? I've done the PP 3 times (once with concierge) & I would give a per day "value" of $15-$20 per adult & $10 per kid to concierge. Maybe a little more if you snag a bunch of waters & snacks & cookies each day (like we did). ![]()

PPH is great!! It's farther away then the GCH or the DLH but still very walkable. Just cross at the corner and cut thru the GCH, follow the signs to DTD or to DCA for entry. Seriously, we really like the PPH and if there are no super cheap deals on Harbor we check the PPH for AP rates.

thanks for the feedback!
It seems the more research I do the more options and more confused I get... SO still deciding... I did call back and must have misunderstood her or she told me wrong but it is a $185.00 upgrade for 2 adults and 2 kids which would put us at or very near the cost of GCA standard room... So many decisions... do you get a better room with Concerage? Still considering CCI but I really think I want to stay on property, at least this time, since its the kids first trip to Disneyland. Thanks again... |

I've never stayed at the concierge level, but I love Paradise Pier. I find the rooms to be very spacious and was even given a theme park view when I booked a standard room.

I would rather stay at the GCH in a standard rm than concierge at the PPH, personally. The rm at PPH will be the same, you will just get the snacks and drinks, from my understanding.

There are concierge level rooms there...they are the 'cabana' rooms on the pool deck, if I recall correctly. I've read that PPH has quite a good concierge lounge, though I've never tried it.
Ya know, it's a hard decision, and alas, no one can make it for you b/c no one else knows what your family likes. Good luck, it's not easy!

Once you stay concierge is hard to go back! Its so nice getting drinks and breakfast in the a.m. and special little desserts before bed. The Grand and PP are right across from one another. The Grand is AMAZING, and PP is nice too. (See the difference?) What type of view would you have at both? That makes a difference to me - I hate looking out at a parking lot even if its just before I leave for DL. Also, how many nights is it for. I think we are all trying to figure out how many snack/drinks you could buy with that $185.00. Also what dates?

We usually stay at the PP, which we like for the size of the rooms, the compactness of the facilities (want a latte? - just take the elevator down) and the great fireworks viewing from the pool deck. I think the walk to the parks from PP is actually closer from PP than DLH as long as you walk through the GC. While we don't have young children, but for someone travelling with an adventuresome pre-schooler, the pool slide (which is a big slide that goes into a small puddle of water) might also be a factor in its favor.
We personally don't see the value in the PP concierge as we can get a decent continental breakfast of lattes, fruit and pastries or cereal from the lobby coffee bar for less than $10 per day per person. The hors d'ouevres & desserts at dinner time and alcoholic beverages were enough for a meal for us, but the "cost" of these offering was that we had to be there more or less at opening time (I think, it was 5 or 5:30) as the lounge filled quickly. Most of the time, we would rather be in parks at that hour and just grab a quick fast food meal. In addition to the pool side concereirge rooms, there are also concierge rooms with park views. While you can request your choice of view, it is not guaranteed. We stayed on the 14th floor with a view of the Park; the lounge is on the 2nd floor. We had an AP rate that was $40 more for concierge per night than it was for a standard view room. We have reservations to stay at the GCV in December but have never stayed there before so I can't really compare the PP with the GC. Best of luck in making your decision. -- Suzanne Last edited by SuzanneSLO; 07-02-2009 at 05:36 PM. Reason: corrected lounge floor |

Just called up my friend who goes to DL every few months and stays at PP she LOVES it. She said for you to go for it. She enjoyed their concierge service. It might be a very rare opportunity, so why not see what the fuss is about. If its only and extra $120 in total... you might end up getting way better service then a closer hotel. Just a thought. Personally I would do it just for the experience.

as other have said the grand is closer nicer etc... but
I'm my opinion i happen to really like the pier. if you have kids who love water slides thiers is the best, I think the food selection ( in the concierge lounges)at the pier is the best for kids unless your kids will eat a salmon/avacado, sandwiches etc. all of the lounges do provide uncrustables but at the Pier thier finger food selection is more along the lines of what kids" like" to eat. if you can afford it I say go for it at least once if it's a good deal. But I too agree once you do it you will probably always do it providing you take advantage of it. For my family we ususally go to Disneyland for 4 days this was were not rushed to do anything and we tour the park a section a day and spend the rest of the time at the hotel pool, downtown disney or just relaxing. So for us we do make use of the lounge. If you plan to be in the park all day I would not suggest doing concierge as you will miss most of the offerings avail to you. Thanks Sherry for posting my thread.. ive actually updated some photos! your the best! |

We really enjoyed PP; didn't stay concierge but had a great room on the pool deck, with a little patio area outside. We could go straight from our patio to the pool which we loved.
If you stay there I would definitely ask for one of those rooms. They are on the 3rd floor, 315, 317,. 319, etc. are all along the pool. The concierge lounge is on the 2nd floor, we saw people going in & out a couple times and it looked nice - there was lots of food the few times we were able to see in. |
