Animal Kingdom's Kiss Goodnight-This is NEW!

Just read this in the Allearnet newsletter. Has anyone seen this yet?

Disney's Animal Kingdom recently started its own version of the
"Kiss Goodnight," held at the park closing each evening. (In the
Magic Kingdom, the "Kiss Goodnight" includes the projection of
changing colors on Cinderella Castle as guests leave the theme
park.) In the Animal Kingdom's "Kiss Goodnight," characters
Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Minnie wave good-bye to guests leaving
the park. The "Kiss" currently occurs 5 - 5:20 p.m.
Sunday-Friday; 7 - 7:20 p.m. Saturday.

Will have to check that out! We have ADR at RFC at 5:30 so were planning to leisurely leave the park. This will be a fun end. I have a huge Goofy fan and a Minnie fan!

double edged sword. traditionally, the greeting trail characters from minnie-mickey are outside the park from about 4:30 on and continue doing meet & greets after park closing.

I saw it when I visited last month. It's basically what Allears described. The characters appear in front of the Oasis, just inside the park entrance, and wave goodbye to guests. It causes a bit of crowding with everyone trying to get pictures, but it's a nice touch on Disney's part.

Hi all... this brings up an old question that has laid dormant in the back corners of my mind...
On a prior trip we met a few other couples who were gabbing on and on about some kind of kissing ritual that you are supposed to do at just an exact moment at MK. Whatever it was it takes place near the end of the night (or after closing). It was some sort of "you kiss your true love at exactly_________ and ________ happens. I don't know the blanks. I didn't hear it all, but everyone there (3-4 other couples) were talking about it and I only overheard bits and pieces. Anyone have ANY idea what that was all about? It could have been something they had planned ahead of time, but it sounded as though it were some sort of well known tradition.

The only "kiss" thing that I'm aware of at MK is the Kiss Goodnight that they do there. At closing, different colours are projected onto the castle - it's very pretty and is the perfect way to end the day at MK.

I've never heard of a kissing ritual to be done by guests - sorry.

I can see how guests, upon hearing that there is a "Kiss Goodnight Ceremony" at MK, without further good information, would immediately start GUESSING what it meant.

As the MK's "Kiss Goodnight" was discussed, the "guesses" would take on a life of their own and be passed on and embellished until they became a "Disney Legend" (of which there are many.)

I say, if you want to kiss your Honey at MK, go for it.
If you want to do that during the REAL "Kiss Goodnight" ceremony, so much the better!

Link to a video of the REAL "Kiss Goodnight" ceremony at MK.
(I did not shoot this one.)

You can check for the Kiss Goodnight schedule at the site below-

This is a great site to keep BOOKMARKED for future reference.

The following site posts the stage shows, in-park and other on-property shows and their times for the CURRENT week.
(It is updated every weekend.)
The times may be "similar" for other dates as well.

Steve Soares' TIMES GUIDE Site

At the top of the page,
click on the colored links for the various parks
and their show times.

Be sure to check back to the site as the actual dates of your trip get closer.

More about this.

I see that the DAK's new "Kiss Goodnight" is now listed on the Steve Soares
site (just as is MK's.)

http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/ak/ak.htm

Scroll down-

Quote:
KISS GOODNIGHT
Sunday 7:00pm-7:20pm; Monday-Friday 5:00pm-5:20pm; Saturday 6:00pm-6:20pm
As noted, the Steve Soares info is updated weekly.

Or hoping...

My favorite spot is on the TTA!

Thanks Robo!
I never knew it was called Kiss Goodnight. To be honest I rarely EVER see the castle after hours from the front. I always watch the fireworks from the back side of the castle. I like them a LOT better from the back. They are closer, and you have the 360 feel. Then when we leave we are always walking the other direction. We generally wait around a while behind the castle to avoid the crowds.

I'll have to watch for this next time!
