We knew today would be busy and we were on a mission, to get tickets to see Mamma Mia tomorrow night. As we got up a little later than planned we headed straight out to try and get brekkie at the Dennyís I had seen near the cinema last night. As we got closer the queue was coming out of the door So we carried on walking and went into a little food court area and got a subway sandwich. I had a warm chicken breast with cucumber and mayo whilst Nathan had the roast beef and salad. It was busy in the food court and whilst eating I suddenly noticed a woman in her 60ís, sitting at a table by the queue for Subway, making a fuss and putting her handbag onto her lap. I then became aware of a younger Asian looking woman making some apologetic gesture, after which she turned and stood in the queue for Subway before wandering off amongst the tables to another outlet and standing in that queue for a few minutes before heading off down the stairs and back outside. It was clear that the younger woman was a pick pocket and luckily this time she didnít get anything! Anyway we soon ate our Subway and headed off. It was busy on the sidewalks and took ages to get anywhere. Once at Excalibur we took the monorail to the Mandalay Bay and then found the ticket counter for Mamma Mia! As luck would have it the performance we wanted was still relatively under booked so we got seats for the fourth row back. Once paid for I carefully put the tickets away and off we went to the Luxor. It was amazing how big it is actually is as from outside it looks very small but once inside looks huge!
After a quick look around we were off to the monorail to get back to Excalibur and the attention to detail is once again good.
From Excalibur we went to MGM via NYNY.
It was then time for a look around MGM and the little lions were out so we spent a few minutes watching them play with their trainers. We then got the Las Vegas Monorail up the Strip and got off at the Harrahís Casino stop and walked across the road passing the Venetian on the way.
It was then full speed to the Fashion Show Mall, which is a lovely regular mall, but prices were high in some shops, not surprising as it is opposite The Wynn!! Once again we had a look in the Lacoste shop, although there was a sale it wasnít as cheap as some other sales. I bought a nice little black fabric bag in Fossil and we also got a few soaps in Bath and Body Works to last us until December. Feeling as if we wanted an ice cream we went to the food court and the service at the Haagen Dazs was amazing, they hadnít got a clue how to process a travellerís cheque and it held the queue up! As we walked away a bemused American said to us he just wanted to go round and ring the sale up for us, lol. Having eaten the ice cream we headed back towards the Bellagio and a swim. It was pleasant lying by the pool but the clouds soon gathered and we headed in.
Knowing how busy everywhere was last night we decided we didnít want to go out a face a 2 hour queue so we ordered room service and chilled a bottle of wine we had left in the sink with plenty of ice around it along with a couple of bottles of Bud Light. We also took the time to watch the fountains from the window whilst listening to the accompanying music on the television
In the distance across Las Vegas we could see fireworks in the sky but were surprised that there was nothing to celebrate Independence Day on the Strip Soon our order arrived and it looked lovely.
We shared the Buffalo Wings to start with.
Then Nathan had the Hawaiian Pizza.
I had the Pepperoni Pizza.
We also shared a salad.
But the garlic bread was missing so I phoned the room service line and garlic bread soon arrived. We enjoyed our meal along with the wine and watched the fountains once again. Soon we were aware of a lot of activity outside just at the junction of the Bellagio and the Flamingo. Police cars were dashing all around blocking off the Strip from the filter roads, Paramedic units were also heading towards the area down by the Flamingo. From what we could see we guessed a pedestrian had been knocked over, as you could see a person in the road and a taxi stopped just a few feet back. The whole of the Strip around this area was now clear of any traffic and it remained that way for some time to come. It was now quite late so we went to bed after putting the room service table out. Tomorrow would be time for more sightseeing and Mamma Mia!
We later found out that the Police had been involved in a shooting after a motorist drove off dragging a Police Officer along and then hit a taxi and a pole before coming to a stop
