I said "Actually Closing" because I only have a shred of hope left that VMK is actually going to remain open, but, I'm stilling wishing it will

Publicity Stunt wouldn't be correct cause it would lead to bad publicity but I know what you mean. But whatever they were doing it back fired on their part. I don't think it actually ever was closing.

That's sort of what i meant as publicity stunt, they bring attention to themselves by having angry players then at the last minute say "We're not closing, your protesting saved us" or something?

Unfortuneately, it really is closing. Publicity when it openned, but closing is - well - just Disney Corp is just done with VMK.

IF that is the case they are unwittingly driving customers away. I think WDIG got bored/disinterested, the accountants said VMK wasn't making a profit and there was no one in a good position to fight for it.
Btw, I had been mentioning the closing to a couple of friends and offered to show it to them. They were surprised the game was being closed because they said VMK looked like a lot of fun and it's Disney!

I said "actually closing" mainly because they cut off the ability to create new members. If they wanted this to be for publicity, they would still be taking new members to keep the count going up and up...

If they really cared about the power of the media and the ability of the VMK community to cause an uproar, it would have kept the new member option open...to see what kind of impact the announcement had. I'm guessing they could have had thousands of new members in a short period of time.
