Usually the 3rd week of August for us- we're the ones who get out May 29th. Next year we get out about a 1/2 to a whole week later than this year...I think June 3rd or something like that.

We started on Aug 20 last year and get out May 28. It seems like dumb planning to me to have the Memorial Day holiday on Monday and then have only 2 more days of school. Seems like our district could have figured out a way to finish the year before Memorial Day!

Last school year, we started around Aug 5 and got out around May 12, but Florida decided school was starting too early and made it a law that schools can't start more than 14 days before Labor Day.

We from NY so its pretty hard for my ds to get used to. But he does love getting out early.

We were there then too and I was shocked as well. And disappointed at the crowds!

completely going OT but how on earth do you guys cope with childcare for that long??!! You have my sympathies. We get 7 weeks for our kids here over the summer, then 2 weeks in Oct, 2 weeks in Dec, 2 weeks for easter and that's their lot, and for working parents that is hard enough to work around.

FL transplant here and YES! The schools in FL all seem to do Disney trips in May and June before letting out for the summer- expect large crowds of practically unchaperoned kids

Even where we live in PA the kids get out the first week in June and don't go back until the day after Labor Day.
