Considering DVC Membership

Hi there,

We are strongly considering DVC membership as we are big Disney fans and the weak dollar seems to make it a good deal at the moment.

We are thinking of getting enough points to allow us to have a two-week holiday every three years by borrowing and banking. This would give us the flexibility to have shorter, more frequent holidays if we like. We like the Boardwalk for it's convenient location. We would probably look to buy a resale, probably though The Timeshare Store.

Our most likely time of vacation is Easter so we'd be looking for a UY of March or earlier

Does anyone have any comments on this approach. I've read through the threads on this and the main DVC board which has been very helpful but I may have missed something.

We have a couple of questions at the moment.

Why is Boardwalk so much cheaper than the Beach Club at resale ($80-$88 compared to $86-$93)?

Does anyone have any idea how the prices of resale will go, bearing in mind the current economic situation. Does Disneys ROFR put a floor under prices.

I will post this on the main DVC board as well.

thanks in advance for your help,

Liam

Stormalong Bay is the answer to this, although as we don't have kids I don't understand it - but it does mean if we ever sold our BCV points we'd get a good deal.

The price of resale points will follow the price of new points until the end date of 2042 for the contracts comes into play - however DVC have been looking at extending this (obviously at a cost) to match the new end date (which I can't remember!).
