Welcome to the DIS!!!

I must have spend a couple hours trying to figure this one out: MNSSHP I did finally get it, though.

Anyway, what made me decide to finally stop lurking and post something (which may be one of the only things I post) is that I got the information on our trip (we leave October 1st ) from our Benevolant Benefactors (my in-laws) and found out that they:

1. Booked a water-view room at CSR
2. Requested building 9A or 9B

I can't wait to leave!! Oh, and they also got ADRs (see I'm getting it) for some great places as far as I've read on here.

BTW, This is my very FIRST trip to WDW and I was not really excited until I got on DIS and started reading. Thanks everyone for helping me go from this: to this: about our Disney trip.

Have a great trip!! Remember, cabana 9a is a smoking optional room.

Oh! Forgot about the smoking optional for 9a. Guess I'll have to hope that they don't give us 9a because I can't ask the Benevolant Benefactors to change the requests. That would be like me telling them they don't know what they are doing.

... and thanks to the other poster for the link to the list of abbreviations.

Best Food Court – Voted by DIS’ers

Pepper Market. Huge portions, great choices and tasty food. Lunch/Dinner Menu

Best Pool – Voted by Dis’ers

The Dig Site. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

We had it narrowed down to POR and CSR - and all the great pictures and things that you had to say swayed us to CSR. We're really looking forward to it!

thanks!

No problem, that's the main reason for starting the site. Just to help others see it is a great resort. Have a great trip!! April is a wonderful time fo year to be at WDW.

We were given a King Room, does that mean it is a suite? Do all of the 'areas' have King rooms in them?

For those who have been down there around Thanksgiving - a couple of questions.

Looks like everyone asks for the Cabana's section. We were thinking of the Castias section, we'll be arriving the day after Thanksgiving. What are the thoughts that there will NOT be a convention going on during that time.

Thanks.

There were conventions all week during our July CSR stay. They didn't bother us at all. In fact I got an extra chuckle from them each day. Every morning while getting coffee, or getting ready to go to the parks I would see the conventioneers, and think how those poor slugs had to sit in boring meetings all day long while we were enjoying WDW!

Bottom line, the conventions really didn't affect us at all.

That's reassuring. I've heard horror stories of loud conventioneers partying into the wee hours & Disney doing nothing about it. I realize it would depend on the group. What section did you stay in? We were thinking ranchos would be the furthest away from something like that.

We stayed in Cabanas. It was close to the dig site, and not too far from El Centro. Ranchos looked like a nice section, too. I believe they try to put the conventioneers close to the convention center. As a result they're more likely to be in Casitas. I did notice several people walking from Cabanas each morning to the convention center. Since it was an IRS convention I didn't loudly snicker at the poor slugs who had to sit in meetings all day (for fear of a tax audit!)

LOL

Is THAT where tax dollars go - to send people to CSR??? I guess it would be pretty bad to listen to tax policy when Disney is right outside the door.

I figured logically that conventioneers would be in casitas. During my last Disney stay (at ASMU) I had a REALLY bad experience with 'neighbors' in the adjoining room, so I'm especially touchy. I just don't want a repeat. I used to trust Disney to solve reasonable problems, but I guess I was just naive. Anyway, I'm trying to do at least as much as I can do, to keep away from potential problems, though I know there's only so much you can do.

Thanks for the info! I think we might give it a try. It's my DS's pick anyway. Though, he picked ASMU (he's a jazz trombone player) and that was a very bad choice!!!

Do you know the status of the dig site? Is the work completed yet?
Any alligator sitings?

The work should be completed this month.

I read a post from another board that stated they spotted a small gator (pictured below) during their Sept trip.

A toddler and a husband

I have a toddler who loves the water and pools and a husband who likes quiet.

I think the Casitas look interesting but which one should I choose with the above issues? I also want non smoking.

Which layout is the casitas? Any thought on how to get the best price for November?

Thanks.
