Smile

I'm bringing DH and DD (12 by then.) This will be our first Eastern so we're very excited. Glad to see you'll also be there. We were hoping we wouldn't be alone on the ship.

Just changed our booking to 2/3/07. Seems the rates were better for what we wanted so I fell into a fickle changing spree. Enjoy your 4/14 cruise!

Single Mom with 3 DS's

Just moved from Dec. 2, 2006 Western.

This will be our third cruise/WDW and last time the kids missing school turned out to be an issue bigger than I thought. My oldest starts middle school next year and we moving in to a new house this Summer so I decided to go on school vacation for the first time.

I'm sure it will be very crowded in all aspects but I think we know the ship well enough now to take advantage of all it has to offer.

What's new for me since the last cruise are signing up for the things online like excursions and stuff. I, honestly, don't know what you can and can't do and when you can do it.

Always something new to learn!

April 14 2007 cruise

I was wondering if the cruise ship proves lifejackets for the kids pools or will I have to bring my own for my 6 year old DD? Also has anyone done the submarine tour on St. Thomas? Can't wait to go this will be our first Disney Cruise, glad to see so many others from New England will be on it.

The Mickey pool is only 18 inches deep no need for life jackets.
The Goofy pool is 48 inches deep. I am not sure if they provide lifejackets. If they have some they probably only have a few so if you really need one bring it along.
The Passporter's Guide Book to the Disney Cruise only give the submarine excursion on St Thomas a rating of 5 out of 10.
From the book "Cruiser reviews are mixed: Two people need to share a porthole to gaze out at the cloudy water with some sea life but nothing spectacular. Most cruiser enjoyed it but probably wouldn't do it again.
Adults $ 75.00 children 4-9 $50.00

We were on the May 6th Western and booked this cruise while on board. We had such a great time can't wait to go again. There are 3 of us me dh and ds who will turn 10 on this cruise. We live in New York and must admit big Yankee fans but I'm sure we can get along with all you Red Sox fans.

Welcome VBSunGoddess! and Hannahmom

So jealous that you just were on a Western Cruise in May VBSunGoddess! We did one in Jan '05, and couldn't dock at either Grand Cayman or Castaway! Hence, the move into April!

It was still a relaxing cruise. Free drinks a couple of those days, due to the inability to go ashore. People got angry the second time we couldn't tender but I was prepared for it as I had heard similar stories about it from other January sailors. Heck, we missed that huge snow storm New England got and the schools were closed anyway! My kids ended up missing just 1 day!

I picked the Eastern cruise this time to avoid any tendering issues.

Things I plan on doing this time that I didn't do last time:

1-Exploring the night club area-the family one and other ones!

I spent alot of free time in the Spa last time 'cause I'd gotten a weekly pass and would run for the Rainforest Room at any free moment. Another reason I wasn't too upset at not being able to go ashore at 2 destinations!

2-Walk Each Deck to See the Differences

I've flitted around, but not made a concentrated effort. At the end of the cruise, I noticed one level of decks had cushioned loungers! And I've never seen the jogging deck!

3-Do One of Those On Boat Lectures- Like Wine Tasting!

4-Palo's Brunch

I had the dinner which was fabulous, but didn't have company for the bunch and I chickened out! Not this time!

That's my list to do so far. It's not that I've done everything else. These are just the ones I feel I missed something I shouldn't have.

I did go to the invitation only Castaway Club party though. A room full of crammed people with free appetizers and drinks! That was alot of fun.

hannahmom- I recommend bringing a snorkel vest or swim vest anyway for the beach days. When my youngest and middle were swimming at Cozumel there were water trampolines and stuff and they tired quickly. Those snorkel vests helped me relax a bit more and the kids could swim out with me a little bit-which was nice.

You probably already know that they actually have swim vests at Castaway Cay, but I didn't see any at the pools. The lifeguards at the goofy pool do a great job, I think. Although it gets to be quite crowded at times.

I was the only one that brought short wetsuits that January cruise, so on the cold days my kids had the pool all to themselves. That's one of their favorite memories!

Many Questions

Thanks for the welcome. My DD and I have already looked at planning excursions. Anything that is fun and having to do with shopping. At 6 she already loves to shop. Also my parents are going with us, but booked on a seperate ressie, will they be our tablemates or am I going to have to call DCL to set that up. I wouldn't mind being put at a table with them and others as well. Any tips for a first timer would be awesome. Hopefully someone out there has a daughter around mines age. She will be 7 next June. It would be cool for her to know someone before she got on the boat.
