Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

It may be past August 2014, but we don't want it to end...

The "Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014" Group continues to work towards our goals and support each other...

"A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive."

~Walt Disney

Are you going to Disney World (or Disneyland) in August 2014? Well guess what? It's going to be hot, you're going to walk at least 5-10 miles a day, and you're going to have to wear shorts (and/or dresses, skirts, etc.), tank tops and swimsuits. And it's less than 6 months away!

So set your goal to Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August. I see this a place for motivation, inspiration, accountability and support. So let's get started!

General Guidelines

Check in at least once a week on Saturday. (Sunday as an alternate.)

Stick to the Code... they're more like "guidelines" than actual rules
  • If I do any type of activity, I will see it as a positive thing.
  • Food is not my enemy. I need to give my body what it needs to be the best it can be.
  • I will try to do more for myself today than I did yesterday.
  • I will give myself permission not to be perfect.
  • I will take a short break if my body and/or mind really needs it. When I'm able, I will start up again without feelings of guilt.
  • I will do something good for myself/have fun/relieve stress.
  • I will try to get enough sleep and rest.

Hi dijiMom, can I still join? Sorry I'm late to the party but I was already participating in the March Madness thread. Had a great March so I'm pumped to just go ahead and make a longer range goal by joining the August challenge. Thank you so much for starting this thread!

Since things are on the upswing I feel like it's time to look a few months ahead. I'm thinking I'd like to lose between 20-25 by 8/1/14. I know, kind of a lofty goal but I feel it's attainable if I can increase my activity level which I started to do. I will continue with my mini goals which for April will be 6 pounds. Hope I can do it!

I can add you, but it might a day or so. In fact, for anyone that needs to be added, it might be easier if you can PM me.

My recovery is doing OK. I'm in that stage where the pain medicine is making me feel icky, but I hurt if I don't take it. I've been sleeping a lot. I've been trying to walk around the house a bit. My diets been really bland: toast, jello, apple juice.. I'm so ready to feel better...

I'm in too. I have been walking 10,000 steps a day for 3 weeks in a workplace challenge - so I'm pretty much done with dropping pounds. I need to do calistetics, sit-ups, leg lifts, and exercise stuff that will tighten up any flab. Once the challenge is over in 3 more weeks - I'll need support to stay on top of it and very much appreciate a Disney group to keep me focused.

Ugh.

I'm in, ideally I'd love to loose 30-50 but realistically I am shooting for 15-20 and will be happy with that. I've been increasing water intake and reducing portion sizes. It's very easy to take an extra portion sometimes but I have to remember it's not needed nutrition wise :-)

I have a treadmill here at home and keep saying yeah I'll do that but then when we finish our activities for the day after work there's very little motivation left! Can anyone else relate???

Count me in! I need to lose a lot more than 25 but that is my goal for August.
I am joining back up with my weight watchers at work group. I am too busy usually for the meetings at work but at least I can weigh in and have a little more accountability.

ETA: Maybe we should pick a check in day. You know where we share progress (and non progress) and encourage and celebrate with one another!
