Smile Is laundry free at all Deluxes or just DVC resorts?

Are the laundry rooms free at all the deluxes or just the DVC resorts?

Thanks!

Not free at Poly

I know it's not free at the Poly so I'd say it's a DVC thing.

It's definitely not free at the deluxe resorts. We tend to stay in one every April and I've always had to use the coin operated laundry room.

If you're staying on DVC points, you'll be able to use the laundry room free of charge or if you're in a bigger unit, there will be a stackable washer and dryer in the room itself.

When we stayed in a studio at SSR, the laundry room was free, so I was wondering if that was for all deluxes or just DVC.

Thanks everyone.

While staying at POR my daughter and I went to Old Key West to play tennis. I brought the laundry to wash while we were playing and found out there was no charge for the washer and dryers.

Me, too. Nothing like stealing something you aren't entitled to. How did you get on the tennis court? You weren't entitled to that either.

Just DVC, which SSR is.

If you are staying at a Dvc resort, you should be able to do laundry free. It isn't intended for those visiting the resort to bring their laundry and do it while there.
Non-Dvc resorts all charge for laundry usage.

Definitely pay at deluxe for laundry. Oh and bring extra coins, some of the dryers are not quick at drying things! <mommy who sat for a long time on our down day in the Contemp. laundry room>

They're not "free". DVC purchase & maintenance fees pay for them. If a NON - DVC guest damages the machines, guess whose money is used to repair/replace them?

You'd think she confessed to the Lindbergh kidnapping. Hardly the crime of the century.

Laundry rooms are no different than any other amenity at a DVC resort. You stay at a resort, you get to use all the facilities of that resort. I know some would rather that renters and cash guests wouldn't even be using the resorts, because they aren't "theirs", but no DVC member bought an exclusive members-only timeshare, and no DVC member signed a contract that says anything about laundry rooms being only for member use. If you want DVC to be restructured to be exclusive, take it up with Disney Vacation Development.

No non-member is taking anything away from the members by using the laundry rooms. Whatever use the non-member makes of the laundry room is covered by the dues of the member that owns the points they're staying on. A renter is just a replacement for the member. Whether I stay at VWL and use the laundry rooms there, or I rent my points to someone who stays at VWL and uses the laundry room, my dues are still covering my, or my guests', use of the laundry.

Same goes for the DVC room inventory that Disney owns and rents to the general public for cash. Disney pays its share of the dues (operating costs) on that inventory, just as any other owner would.
Right, the problem comes in when people from other resorts come over to do "free" laundry. They have not paid maintenance dues nor are they a cash reservation through CRO. Their use is additional over & above the expected usage and contributes to additional wear and tear on the facilities.
