Disney Fantasy June 22-29th 2013: Boardwalk, Boat, and Boston! 2nd Wedding Annivesary

June 2013 Trip Report

Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise to the Caribbean… and Boston!

Hi everyone and welcome to my latest trip report.

Who

Me, Emma (28) – huge Disney fan, my first trip to Walt Disney World was in 1993 and I’ve been 15 times now!

DH (28) – not as much of a fan but really enjoys our trips to WDW and sailing on the cruise ships too.

Where

This was an amazing vacation, we started planning it nearly two years ago – almost as soon as we got off the Disney Dream ship on our honeymoon, we knew we wanted to do another Disney cruise!

So the cruise was booked in October 2011, we chose a 7 night Western Caribbean itinerary on the Disney Fantasy – visiting Grand Cayman and Mexico, as well as the beautiful Castaway Cay.
We also booked two nights at Walt Disney World before the cruise, and then wanted to visit somewhere else in the USA afterwards (otherwise it’s a long way to travel just for a week!). Initially I suggested we flew over to the West Coast and visited Disneyland, as we’ve never been there. However, as I started to research it I realised it would be a long flight, three more hours of jetlag, and there is much more in California and on the west coast that we’d want to do so it wouldn’t fit into a week’s vacation.
So…. DH suggested Boston, Massachusetts… we both wanted to visit the city – plus it was on the same coast as Florida.. and a shorter flight back to London on the way home.

When

Our itinerary was as follows:

June 20th - 22nd Walt Disney World, staying at the Boardwalk Villas

June 22nd – 29th Disney Fantasy – Western Caribbean Cruise

June 29th – July 5th Boston MA – staying at Loews Back Bay Hotel

Why

It was our 2 year wedding anniversary on June 18th, so this vacation was a great way to celebrate!

Emma x

Love reading this! My family was on this cruise, as well. We had been on the Dream in 2011 and just got off the Magic last week. I think we are full blown addicted to Disney cruises, lol.
Your trip sounds fantastic!! What a wonderful anniversary you must have had :-)
Our trip was different since we were with our three sons and my in-laws, but it was certainly great!
Thanks for writing this and allowing me to relive the FANTASY!!

I want to try Remy, I really do, but neither DH or I eat seafood of any kind and I can't imagine how that would work out.

I know. We're weird.

Oh my goodness! I just started reading your report tonight & can't stop! I had to stop at the beginning of page 4. We ALSO were on the exact sailing! It was our 2nd cruise as well. Our 1st was on the Wonder Oct 2012. I loved reliving the memories and your WDW pretrip. We signed up for DVC while on this cruise. Our plan is to do the DVC Member Cruise 2015 & pretrip to WDW. Thinking of AKV or BLT or OKW. After reading your trip, I'm intrigued about BCV & BWV. Just saw your YouTube about the cruise horns! Whenever I hear them, my face lights up with joy! We had booked the family stateroom & loved the space, huge seating on the porthole window& split bath. Hopefully we can do the same room with verandah. Didn't do it this time cuz we think our kids are still too young (at the time almost 2 & almost 6). Loved seeing the two if you in the adult only areas! Lived vicariously thru you! My Arab was able to do 3 alcohol tastings/classes, but I wasn't able to view the clubs at night. The one night we had date night, the kids club called that our DD wanted to be picked up. Poking forward to reading the rest of ur report!

I am loving your Boston pictures!
We visited the city a few years ago and had an amazing time. Looks like we did virtually the same things
We went to Fenway Park for a game and loved it. We also did the trolley tour for two days and headed over to Harvard
What a cute idea for that restaurant to put the cheque in a little notebook

I just found your TR and read through the whole thing. I enjoyed it so much - we did the BW at WDW prior to the same cruise you did only in August this year! It looks like you two had such a great Disney time!

I am loving hearing about your time in Boston and seeing all the pictures too. I lived there years ago, so it's neat to "revisit."

Just caught up on Boston!

I LOVED looking at all your Boston pictures. Took me back instantly from when we went in the Summer of 2011. Everywhere you went, we went too, so it was like reliving my trip all over again

The picture from the stadium - any idea what's up with that single red seat amongst the sea of green seats??

Can't wait to hear about the game and what you thought of it! Also, please tell me you got a real cannoli from Boston?!

!
The lone red seat in the right field bleachers (Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21) signifies the longest home run ever hit at Fenway. The home run, hit by Ted Williams on June 9, 1946, was officially measured at 502 feet (153 m)— well beyond "Williamsburg". According to Hit Tracker Online, the ball, if unobstructed, would have flown 520 to 535 feet (160 to 163 m)

See ya Real Soon!

Hi everyone!

Firstly - a big apology, I had every intention to finish this report Sunday afternoon.. but unfortunately our telephone line & internet went down and didn't come back until yesterday! Realised how much we use the internet when it wasn't there

So - I will definitely finish my Boston report soon.. but it will have to wait a week or so because...

I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!

This trip has come up so quickly, I'm a little nervous about the run - but know I can do the distance, I've trained hard and (so far) no injuries at all... my running shoes are packed in my hand luggage, suitcases are almost packed.... and we're ready to go!
I'm excited to experience something new at WDW, the marathon weekend has always looked amazing!

I'm sure to be posting a few updates on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram - so please follow along if you'd like ... TR will follow (my user name on the latter two is disney_barbie (Twitter) and disneybarbie (Instagram)
