Hyatt at MCO

OK, I know there is a way and I tried to search but couldnt find my exact answer or the threads were very old.

So.... How is it that you can get a discount for the Hyatt at the Orlando International Airport?

Our super cheap Southwest flight ($49) arrives at 1050 pm and I thought it might be better to just stay at the airport that night. But I would like to compare rates for the Hyatt and the room only discount for fall or the possibility of an AP room only discount. So walk me through the Hyatt process. Thanks.

Buy a Hyatt stay certificate (certificates.hyatt.com) for $152 and call the 800 number for Hyatt and reserve your room with it. You have to prepay for the cert. but it doesn't expire and your ressie can be cancelled up to, I think, the day before. I just got mine for my trip in November.

If you happen to be eligible for a Government rate (Fed Gov't, State Gov't, military), you can get a room for $97.50 most nights.

AAA also provides a slight 10% discount.

Thanks for the replies.

I also thought there was a way to bid on hotwire or priceline.

At $152 a night, I can get a better rate with the fall room only discount. It makes that first night about its $241 for Sept 19 and Sept 20 at Pop in a preferred room.

If you do a google search you might be able to find a code for free membership at Last Minute Travel Club. They seem to offer the Hyatt at MCO for ~$120-130 depending on how far in advance you are booking. Even for a bit more $$ I think that the convenience of staying at the Hyatt is well worth it for your late arrival.

I don't think that I have ever seen a hotel that is physically attached to an airport available on priceline or hotwire, only hotels that require a shuttle. Hotels attached to airports know that they can charge a premium for the convenience that they provide.

I have seen Hyatt MCO come up on Hotwire within the last year, but it was very close to sail date and after adding in the Hotwire fees it was not much of savings over the rack rate.

Do they not make you show official travel documents for government rate?

Yes, you have to show proof (I'm a federal govt' employee) and I have to show my credentials. The AAA was $143 as of this morning.

There are a few hotels close by for under $100. But you're getting in late (as am I) so I'm sure you would rather pay a little extra for less stress.

Good luck. Happy sailing

Depends on the rate. Some require only a government ID. I've seen Marriott have some that required travel orders but that may be just a reflection of the standard government per diem for business travel. Many hotel rates for govt. employees (federal, state or local) do not require the employee to be on official business.

We stayed at the MCO Hyatt on July 5. We used the federal employee discount. I brought my federal ID, but they didn't even ask to see it.

I joined the Last Minute Travel Club for free using the code MAYNOJ. The e-mail said to share the code with friends and family, so feel free to use it! We're flying in to MCO on 8/31 for the 9/1 sailing on the Dream. The best rate I had been able to get previously was $143.10 + tax through Costco (not pre-paid). With LMT Club, I was able to get $108 + tax for a total of $125.96. Our flight gets in just after 8:00 p.m., so convenience was a big factor for us when deciding where to stay.

I used this code to join for free and just booked a room on Sept 11 for $128.36. Thanks for the tip!

I also have booked through the LMT Club for our 9/1 sailing and when I booked it around March I think I paid $97 total. I also have the night prior to our Jan 2014 cruise booked there and the rate online was $255 and I got it through LMT Club for $137 total.

I was hesitant to use LMT Club, however I haven't had any problems. I used them for the first time in Vancouner prior to our cruise to Alaska and no issues. Don't forget you'll need to bring your email with the actual reservation number that LMT Club should email within a few days of the reservation, if you don't get it, just call them and ask them to resend. Also, I'd suggest calling the hotel directly and just confirming they have your reservation.

Heather

Go to the LMT site, click become a member, fill in info, click continue and the next page will have the box to put in the promo code.

Hope that helps.
