Fair Market Value for resale AKL points?

Is this even answerable? We are looking to buy between 250-300 points at AKL through resale. We are somewhat new to this and I just want to make sure we get out points at the best price possible.

Has anyone here recently attempted to buy in to AKL recently? How many passed ROFR?

I am both nervous and excited at the same time. We are putting in an offer tonight and wanted to get your opinions!
Thanks,
Heidi

Read through some of the posts in this section and check out the ROFR thread for some current pricing.

I don't think there is much chance of AKL falling at ROFR unless the price is ridiculous as dvc still have inventory to sell there. Check the ROFR thread, I can't do links on my tablet unfortunately. This will give you an idea of what people are paying but larger contracts are sometimes a little cheaper than small ones and banked points increase the value too.

I'm going through ROFR on AKL points and have been watching the market for quite a while. Smaller contracts seem to get snapped up almost immediately but larger ones like you're looking to buy aren't moving as quickly and I've seen a few that have been hanging around for a while. With this in mind I'd definitely offer below the asking price and pitch it somewhere in the mid to high $60's but as the others have said, do your research and perhaps even offer lower if your comfortable with it.

We closed on AKV contract in March...100 points and we paid $66 (and paid CC and MF too). They listed it at $69. ROFR took 29 days and entire process took 2 months from offer (1/19) to making a reservation using the new points (3/18).

I had a 200pt AKV contract with a Dec UY and all 2013 points going forward that passed last month at $61/pt. But it took a while to find a contract I liked at that price. Many sellers weren't willing to go below the mid 60s. I had the time so I was patient. I was rejected many times before I had an offer that was accepted. So even if people list their very good deals on the ROFR thread, they may have waited a long time to get that deal. Also, people who feel like they overpaid may not submit info at all. Just something to keep in mind. Good Luck!

We just made it through ROFR last week for a 100 point contract at AKV. Have sent our closing papers back to the Title Company, so it shouldn't be too much longer until closing. The sellers' counteroffer gave us a choice of $65 pp or $67 pp and splitting closing costs. We chose the 2nd option as it was just a few dollars cheaper overall. No 2013 points, but we didn't pay 2013 MF either. I think most contracts are passing ROFR at AKV right now unless really, really low. I felt like our negotiations were probably about average for AKV. Good luck!

We just closed last month on 100 AKV points with an Oct UY. Our contract was completely loaded with all 2011, 2012, and 2013 points. We paid asking price of $69/point because I didn't have the patience for multiple offers on multiple contracts over a period of time. I saw a contract we liked at a price we could live with and jumped on it. We are renting the 2011 points which will net a final price in the neighborhood of $59/point, excluding closing costs and MF.

It looks like $70 is kinda the normal asking price.

Interesting range of prices. As my father-in-law says, the value of something is the price a willing and able buyer is willing to pay. Find a point that you will be happy paying and negotiate to or below that point.

Everything seems to be negotiable except that doggone $195 fee from Fidelity...

You can negotiate that too and have seller pay...

Thank you all for your help!!!

One more question...is it acceptable to ask the seller to pay or the 2013 membership fees? They are asking for the total fee and we will not get the points until September. We'd have the pay the fees again in January 2014.

Thanks!
Heidi
