Did I Hear That Right? A Solo Adventure at WDW Updated 8/30

Hi! Welcome to my second trip report. For those of you who donít know me yet, my name is Ariana, Iím 39 (for a few more months) and I live outside of Atlanta, GA.

This was my 10th time at WDW and my very first solo trip. Iím married but DH is not a big fan of traveling so I usually go with friends or family to Disney. We donít have children in the traditional sense. Ours are furry and have four legs.

First is Sierra:

She is almost 3 years old and the love of my husbandís life. Yep, her, not me! She is feisty, a bit of a brat and also the biggest love bug you will ever meet. She loves to pick on her older brothers and also act like a dog ten times her size. If I hold her when DH leaves the room, she starts screaming to follow after him.

Next is Alex:

Heís 6 years old and was the baby till Sierra came into the picture. He is the only one that has ďfollowedĒ me home from the Animal Shelter where I volunteer. I think there would be a lot more but DH is allergic to cats and most dogs. We have the Schnauzers because they donít shed and they donít bother DHís allergies. Alexís mom was a schnauzer so he doesnít shed. Daddy was a big question mark. Alex is as sweet and loving as they come. Heís mostly my dog and is usually somewhere in the same room I am. He is a worry wart and gets very upset when he sees a suitcase come out of the closet. He is also obsessed with socks and steals them from us all the time.

Last but not least is Eddie:

Heís 11 Ĺ and has been my baby since we brought him home at 6 weeks. The picture is a little outdated, I have an awful time getting good pictures of him with his dark coloring. Youíll notice in the picture that he only has one eye. He has had eye issues most of his life. Unfortunately since that was taken, he has lost the other one. He gets around ok for the most part but does spend a lot of time running into walls. Eddie is all about two things, eating and sleeping. He is so obsessed with food that we have to be on constant alert. In his lifetime he has eaten a 12 inch meatball sub, a box of Total cereal, a bag of Doritos and a bag of chocolate chip cookies. Those are just the ones I remember at the moment.

So, enough about my babies (I could probably go on for pages) and on with the Disney trip. Prior to this trip, I went to Disney with my Mom in November 2012 and Iím still writing the TR for that one. The link is in my signature if you are interested. When I got home from that trip, I was sad that I wouldnít be going back until October 2013. When I got my bonus from work in December, I decided to use it for a quick solo trip. I wanted to do it halfway between the two other trips but circumstances at work and not wanting to go in the summer heat lead to a late February/ early March trip. So here are the details:

Dates: February 28th through March 5th, 2013
Resort: All Star Music
Dining Plan: Regular

A few facts about me, if youíve read my other TR, you can probably skip over this:

1. Favorite Character: Pluto, Pluto and Pluto! I have loved Pluto since before I can actually remember. I have an entire room in my house dedicated to him. Donít believe me? Check out this link: Pluto Room.
2. Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom all the way. I could sit down on a park bench on Main Street and never move for the rest of my life. Well, I might have to go visit some rides and shows once in a while.
3. Favorite Ride: I am a ride lover at heart. Iíd rather be on a ride at Disney than any other place. Iím not much into character greets or parades. Pirates of the Caribbean, Soariní, Expedition Everest, and Toy Story Mania are probably my favorite at each park. But it tends to change.
4. Favorite Restaurant: A tie between Coral Reef and Rose & Crown Pub

Ok, letís move on for now, Iím sure youíll learn a lot more about me as the TR progresses.

One last thing before I end the intro, I should probably explain the title. Being on a solo trip, I tended to listen a bit more to the conversations around me. Some things I heard made me laugh out loud, others were just horrifying. So I started writing them down. As I finish each day of the TR, I will list out the quotes from that day for your enjoyment.

Up Next: Disney, here I come!

Disney Here I Come!

My first morning started off like most of the times when I head to Disney, very early! My alarm went off at 4:30 am and I was on the road to the Airport at:

Not too bad, I wanted to be out of the house at 6:00 am and I made it. My flight was at 8:50 am but I had to drop my car off at DHís work plus I had to deal with rush hour traffic. DH left for work about 5:30 am so when I got to his work, I left my car and he drove me the rest of the way to the airport. He dropped me at the airport at 7:05 am.

There was no wait to check my bag, I walked right up to the counter. I got shuffled to the South security and it was a bit longer of a wait because there was only one person checking the licenses before you went through the X-ray machines. The South security is much smaller than the regular one at the Atlanta airport. Despite that, I was still at my gate at 7:45 am.

We were supposed to board at 8:20 am but the plane didnít arrive at the gate till 8:10 am so it was about 8:30 when we boarded. I was seated in a row with two ladies who I think were Mother and Daughter. They were speaking a foreign language so I didnít try to start a conversation. I read some magazines and watched out the window and before I knew it we were landing!

We landed right on time at 10:30 am and I headed for the Mini Monorail to get to the main terminal. I wasnít going to take any pictures because I took a ton last time but I couldnít resist.

I was thrilled to see this sign (please pardon the crookedness, I tend to walk and take pictures at the same time so my pictures are sometimes crooked):

Yea, here it comes!

Not sure what I was trying to take here. Maybe my first sight of palm trees?

I headed down to the DME and before long I saw this:

Thereís those beautiful buses!

I waited in line for only a few minutes and then we were loaded on the bus. I got a cruise line bus but between loading my small suitcase under the bus and trying to juggle my DME paperwork, I didnít get a picture of my actual bus. I did take a picture of the one next to me:

And also the hidden Mickeyís on the seat:

No one sat next to me so I relaxed and enjoyed the movie:

Our driver did give us some ďadviceĒ for our stay at Disney. Unfortunately he didnít get all of the information right. I canít remember what he said wrong but he was obviously trying to quote a script that he didnít quite have memorized correctly. I got a good chuckle out of it but felt bad for anyone that used his advice. Before very long, I saw this wonderful sight out the window:

A little closer:

Almost there:

That was the best I could do because I was about five rows back on the bus.
We stopped at Coronado Springs first and dropped off some people. Then we were off to the All Stars:

First up was All Star Sports:

By this time the movie was over and we were on to watching cartoons. The showed a funny one with Donald Duck and Chip and Dale:

And then we headed to All Star Music! (Sorry for the horrible pictures, they were the best I could get out of a moving bus window):

We got out of the bus and walked the red carpet to head into the lobby:

I was grabbed immediately by a CM with an IPad. In less than five minutes, I was checked in, I got the section I wanted and my room was ready! It was the first time I had actually gotten my room request. The CM was very apologetic though when she told me I had a room with a King sized bed, was that ok with me? Of course it was. Since I was by myself, it was just fine with me.

I LOVE the "save the date" fastpass!!! So cool!

That must have been an awesome way to spend the time in line, helping some rookies. I love helping people with Disney so much.

All star music looks cute! The all stars definitely aren't my favorite values, but I do like them! Sports was nice for the short stay over summer! They're nice for what they are:a hotel room to sleep in,a food court to eat, and sometimes a pool if you swim.

Did you end up really liking it? Paige is considering switching to AsMu as it's cheaper when her and her bf go and I said I'd ask you haha

The AS resorts were ok, but I definitely liked POP better. There is nothing more disappointing that biting into a cookie to discover it's really hard.

You got some great pictures. I tried to take pictures on that wall with all the singers and had the same issue as you.

I did like the gift shop at All Star Music.

It was usually pretty crowded in the morning. It was really empty that day for lunch but I was never around to see what it was like at dinner.

I kind of liked the picture with the reflections. I'm sure I could have gotten a better picture at night but I was always tired and ready to get back to my room at that point.

The gift shop was cute, I bought quite a few things in there.

Yea, I thought ASMu was ok. I'd definitely stay there again but I like POP better. Things I didn't like:
1. I thought the resort seemed a bit worn. The carpet in my room was in pretty bad shape. No stains or anything, just really faded.
2. I was slightly disappointed in the selection at the food court, it seemed kind of limited.
3. I really missed the mug washing stations like they have at POP. I had to go in the bathroom to wash my mug out each morning and I was not the only one doing that.
4. There were a lot of cheerleaders but they never bothered me. I know though that some people are bothered by them.

As you can see, it was mostly nit picky stuff. I had no problem with the buses and didn't think the ride from there to the parks was bad. I didn't have any problems with noise. The pool was never crowded but that was because it was so cold that week.

Yep she did know! I really like that picture too. I'm probably going to be trying out sports in February.

I had zero interest in ever staying at All-Stars Music, but looking at your pictures it looks kinda cute. It wouldn't be my number 1 choice, but if the price was right maybe I'd try it.

The resort was cute. I think I'll end up back there for future solo trips because it's cheaper and I'm not in my room enough to warrent paying more.

140 days isn't too bad, you'll be there before you know it. I'm at 200 days for my next trip.

I don't remember if they had any music Mickey stuff. They could have though, I'm ususally honed in on anything Pluto so I could have missed something.
