SO SAD! CRT menu DID change!

Arg! We made our reservations for a late lunch for our FIRST TRIP (2 days in Feb). We are surprising DD with the castle meal. And now, with this lousy new menu, there is NOTHING for dh and I to eat. I am not kidding. I am so sad and mad. Below are the adult choices. Brussels sprouts, really?? And I don't do beef and he doesn't do fish or any alcohol.

He didn't really want to go to CRT anyway, and I insisted b/c dd is a princess fanatic. I don't think I am even going to tell him.

Any sympathy? Please?? Am I the only one who thinks this menu is insane???

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Gnocchi with Roasted Vegtables
Eggplant, Mushrooms, Onions, and Squash tossed with Gnocchi, Arugula, Pesto, shaved Romano, and splash of Aged Balsamic

Oven-roasted Chicken Breast
Farro Wheat Risotto, Wild Mushroom and Leek Ragoût served with a Stone-ground Mustard Jus

Pan-seared Grouper
Butternut Squash Purée, Sautéed Brussels Sprouts, and Winter Citrus with Bacon Vinaigrette

Braised Pork Shank
Butternut Squash Purée, Sautéed Brussels Sprouts, and Winter Citrus with Bacon Vinaigrette

Major Domos Short Rib
Slow-cooked in a Pinot Noir Demi-glace on Potato and Parsnip Purée with Carrots

Could you check for a breakfast ADR (people do cancel)?

I agree everything has mushrooms or brussel sprouts...not two universally beloved ingredients.

CRT really isn't worth it for me so take this for what it is worth. I don't think that the menu looks particularly appetizing, but not too bad, either. For the price, I wouldn't be happy, but I would survive. I would likely order the chicken, gnocci, or short ribs. I completely agree with you in not understanding why they would make brussel sprouts a side. Is there a more universally loathed vegetable? Any chance that you can sub something else?

I think the menu looks delicious!!! There's nothing you could eat? At all? What about going for breakfast instead?

Or how about going to Akershus since your DD loves princess' so much?

If the Pork Shank is half as good as the one at Gaston's Tavern... Count me in.

It looks like pretty much a regular Disney restaurant menu.

Ask for the mushrooms or sprouts to be left off. I'm not sure what the OP eats if they won't eat anything on the menu. They don't eat fish or beef but there is chicken and a vegetarian/pasta dish. I have seen posters who prefer to only eat steak. I do note there is also nothing fried. That appears to be in keeping with some of the restaurants at WDW moving away from the "unhealtiher" offerings.

Gnocchi is pasta. It just may not be the kind of pasta that people are used to. It is made from potatoes.

Me too! I see nothing on this menu that I would not order.

Looks to me like a nice change for the menu, with a very broad assortment of meats, fish or veggie options. Heck, I even love brussel sprouts and mushrooms, but I know I'm in the minority! When we went for lunch about nine months ago, we were less than thrilled, so I guess any menu change is going to bring love from some and disgust from others. From my perspective, it seems clear that they are trying to respond to previous complaints about the food and step it up a notch, but I will readily admit that rarely, if ever, will there be a universally approved menu change for any restaurant.

For better or worse, CRT has never been about the food anyway. I can't imagine what they might could serve that would/could ever live up to the hype or price of dining in a castle...we're all so upset about paying out the nose to eat there that no food could ever live up to the standard we tend to expect - ha! We have eaten at CRT two or three times in the past, and I have always just had to appreciate the fact that going to WDW with young kids is not about me...it took us about five years before my girls were willing to ride anything with the word "mountain" in it, but now they love all the mountains and even RnR, ToT and EE, so after much patience and many rides of Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo, we are finally turning the corner and riding some more dad-friendly rides (or at least this dad!). In the meantime, seeing my girls' faces light up at princess interactions and over-priced castle meals was just part of the experience and totally worth it. I actually ran across some old CRT photos last night while cleaning out some drawers, and DW and I both almost started crying when we saw our girls a few years ago dressed like princesses and hugging Cinderella. They are now still just 10 and 8, but have virtually no interest in that stuff anymore. Not sure if you can get that point across to DH, but don't let the opportunity escape to make those memories (...unless you've already done it a couple of times, made said memories and paid the piper -- there IS a limit to it -- ha!).

If the lunch/dinner options are not appealing, I would jump on the breakfast bandwagon and see if there might be an available ADR. Having breakfast there also provides the potential benefit of getting into the park before it opens, getting a head-start on the rest of the park guests and, if doing the early thing, avoiding an interruption in otherwise "productive" time in the park to stop and eat. Definitely eases the pain of the price a bit...and let's be honest...it's hard to mess up breakfast food!

I thought the menu looked really good too. OP, your DH could order sides off the kids menu if Brussels Sprouts are not to his liking.

Sorry, I think the menu looks really good.... it's funny, people have complained that the food at CRT was too ordinary for chargine 2TS, so now they've kind of brought it up a little and that doesn't work either. I think you can never please everyone all of the time. I would try for breakfast where it might be more to your liking.

It kind of makes me a little bummed we are doing breakfast there and not dinner.....

I know! When BOG's kids menu came out with new and unusual findings people complained after years of complaints that the menus were all the same and generic kids food

I didn't see anything on the updated menu that I or someone in my family would not enjoy.
