POR - Cabbing it to MK?
There are three of us, DS is six, DH and myself. We can't wait to go to POR-FQ in two months!!
![]() We will have a car but will be relying on bus and cabs to take us around. I used to work at WDW so I know my way around _pretty_ well. Last year we actually won a trip and stayed at The Grand Floridian. It was magical and DH is a convert! YAY If you were staying at POR-FQ, which parks would you for sure take a cab to and which would you do the bus or drive? My son is not good for long walks. He can do it but his mom and dad get frustrated with his impatience HAHA Thank you!!

Neither a cab nor driving yourself will get you to the gate at MK. Cars park (and cabs drop off) at the TTC, then you'd have to either take the ferry across Seven Seas Lagoon or the monorail around it (which your 6 year old might get a kick out of). A bus will drop you off right at the gate. I'm curious though as to why you'd want to spend the money for a cab when you'll have a car.

I would take a bus to MK but drive to the other parks. If you have a car, i'd just drive myself.

I guess parking is free at the parks when you stay on property? I don't think I knew that.
Full disclosure: DH was not enthusiastic about our trip last year. And when daddy's grumpy, ain't nobody happy He is "excited" about this trip which is a gigantic change and will make all the logistics easier. Now he knows what to expect. The only other time he was there was when he was 10. His family stayed on International Drive and they went to MK for one day. anyway, thanks for the advice about MK and driving, probably. |

I would save cab rides for times when you may be coming back very late from one resort to another and may not be able to get back to a park to transfer to a resort bus.
Another wonderful option at POR is that I always end my evening (especially on solo trips) at a different resort each night for dinner. I take the bus back to DTD (it takes no longer than any other parks bus to show up) and then take the water taxi back to POR. From the bus hub, if you look you can see the top of the volcano from RFC and if you walk towards it, it is right next to the Marketplace dock. The water taxis run every ten minutes after 4 pm, so there is always one coming and going to and from POR/POFQ. I have never waited very long. In addition, if it is really late, you can take the buses from DTD, which run until about 1:30 am. |

Definitely take the bus to MK. DD and I did take a cab from POR to Contemporary because she needed to get to work and the fare was $17! We had a car for our stay at POFQ and used it for all parks except for MK. You can't beat getting dropped off at the gate by the bus!
