Monsters Inc dark ride?!

http://www.screamscape.com/html/shanghai_disneyland.htm

I hope that if it happens, it's for DHS' Pixar Place. While it isn't a coaster, it would be able to dramatically reduce TSMM's wait time, since the entire family can do this ride...

*please*

screamscape...while dedicated...is right up there with jim hill for the title of "Most Accurate Predictor"

its not really meant for disney...places like cedar point, the larger six flags and busch gardens have followed a steady pattern of adding one "big" thing each season (or every couple of years) to keep up with the joneses...usually a coaster. its expected and it leaks out on a predictable time table.

Disney, who first started that trend in the 50's and 60's at DL and 70's 80's at WDW...has pretty much abandoned their own trend.

they have not kept the same commitment to reinvent that the parks were built with...and we pay.
we pay for the same stuff year after year that has long since been paid for. their openings since animal kingdom (maybe because of animal kingdom...who knows?) have been less than impressive. occasional clones and "major attractions" every 5 years or so if you're lucky. and in the case of everest...one that doesn't actually work. in fact...if you look at it objectively:

rock n roller coaster in 99 (test track was 4 years overdue...don't get credit for that)
mission space in 2004 (largely a bust...lets face it)
everest in 2005 (see above)...motor show clone at studios
soarin clone in 2006...crush and gusher over at typhoon (nice but small and overdue)
toy story mania in 2008...but that is a "C" ticket that really opened as "men in black, alien attack" at universal in 2001...i might be harsh - but not really that far off.
fantasyland in 2012...repurposed dumbo, new retail and food, "c" ticket clone in the little mermaid.
snow white - nice twist on what is essentially a junior steel coaster in 2014.
Nothing else confirmed or close to being announced...avatar concept undefined and in complete soup as of now...with "opening date" fast approaching.

that's your 15 year construction history folks...the "new" stuff. not the repurposed or revamped like finding memo, turtle talk, laugh floor, and on and on...
i did forget kim possible though

It makes the tracking for places like screamscape hard...
they think its logical that disney - with their near unlimited finances and huge market share - would build as all the other little fish in the pond do...

but they haven't. you can't trust their rumors - sadly.

Thanks for the insightful reply. I was just, sadly, hoping.

Cool rant, but what does any of that have to do with the leaked blueprints? I guess people treating this forum like their own personal soapbox just comes with the territory these days. I'd recommend simply choosing a different travel destination if you've become so bitter and disgruntled.

As for the op, this looks like a great addition to dhs and could fit perfectly into the space next to tsm. I really hope it gets the green light!

This:

Their investment has not kept up with their pricing, and that has caused the overall quality to fall.

If you want to call that bitter...fine. But there are measurables to support it. Your call, my call.

The other point is one of my staples: trust nothing but vertical construction

Screamscape....bless their heart...do a lot of stuff like this:

Jan 20xx - sources confirm that the Death Star, 5 dimensional coaster for the former site of Sounds Dangerous is a go for 20xx

One year later - it appears that the project is on hold due to reason y

Two years later 1 - project shelved according to sources

See? If I put that on a website...you'll eat it with a spoon. But it's mostly here-say or worse delusional stories conjured in somebody's head.

The only thing you have to look at is why or why not Disney would be compelled to spend the money...and there's not a great reason to reinvest at MGM...if you're fair.

I appreciate that you're still trying to hijack the thread, but this is an actual patent.

And??

Disney has filed for thousands...if not tens of thousands of patents...

I know, Mickey...you're a "real" fan...or CM.

Either way...we are probably gonna be on opposite sides of the table.

Its just kind of sad to see such consistent negativity from you all over this board.

If negative is defined as "expecting return on the continual investment as a consumer from the supplier"

Then yes...guilty as charged.

I will and always demand more from Disney parks...
They sell it that way...they want it that way.
And so I shall ask for it that way.

Enjoy the magic...it's about planning, science, construction and capital for me

This. Disney markets their whole company with superiority and grandeur. We're allowed to expect just that, yet in recent years all I've seen is a decline in food quality, a decline in attraction quality, and for some reason an influx in crowds.

Of course God forbid we share these opinions because they don't align with those who think every single thing Disney does is right and just.

Disney patents tons of things, and while a MI dark ride would be a nice addition, it's really not a wise choice imho. Putting a dark ride in Pixar Place would dull it. So many other things could be done...

HHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEE SHOOTS AND SCORES!

That's it right there.

So I wouldn't mind continuing the discussion...but I'm going to need something from my counterpoint(s) that I never get:

An argument as to why the above statement is not the case...

Not patronizing and frankly uninformed quips that don't actually consider what you and I support with our dollars.
I may be rough, but not uninformed...thanks, Mom

What do you think should or could be done? Just wondering.

Jeez...the original idea of the door vault family coaster concept (suspended...not real intense) made more sense than any of the monsters inc rides they HAVE built. That sequence in the movie was made for a themepark tie in.

There are possibilities to adapt Up!, the incredibles, and of course Cars as well for studios.

I had always hoped they would do a edu-tainment type take on Wall-E...as the message is important and will only become more so as time goes on. But that is more the EPCOT tradition that seems to have been abandoned...sadly.

Lots of other possibilities...other than a standard type drive through with animatronics or 3D.

I've always thought that a Wall-E edutainment 3-d film would fit well in that little theater that currently houses the Timon and Pumbaa movie in The Land pavillion. It already fits the theme and seems like an easy change.

1. Toy Story Mania remains.

2. This building houses The Great Movie Ride, so no real room beyond the meet and greet and gift shop they built in the side.

3. This is empty space. It could house your MI dark ride, or the MI coaster we have all been waiting for. But think about it, putting the two most recent and very popular attractions right next to eachother in an already crowded area would be bad planning. So as much as I'd like to put it there, I'd have to say they put a table service there, a meet and greet area, or an exhibit display. Theming for the table service is up in the air, but I'd say they make a Pixar Studios sort of theme with areas of the restaurant surrounding different art from the films. Meet and greet is self explanatory. Exhibit would be awesome in my opinion, as they could display the concept art and drawings of Pixar films with descriptions of the inception of each film.

4. Re-theme this quick service is something Pixar-ish (Wall-E's cafeteria, or something punny).

5. Re-theme this to Bug's Life (duh).

NOTE**6 and beyond are in the green area which means its possible land for use should they demo the backlot and/or the stunt show. Green area shows possible land, pink area shows attraction space they could utilize it in my eyes.

6/7. These spaces could house what wasn't done in step 3 (table service, meet and greet, Pixar exhibit) or one could house an attraction of choice (i.e. MI coaster or dark ride, whatever).

8. Instead of shoving a whole Carsland in the studios just put the Radiator Springs Racers here. I personally don't want it, so this space could also be utilized for a new and technologically advanced and imaginative attraction as well. Something like an Incredibles sim ride, or a Wall-E attraction, anything. The point here is to build an E-ticket.

9. Again what wasn't used in steps 3, 6, or 7 could be placed here. If those aren't necessary/wanted then a show could be installed I suppose, or it could house one huge gift shop to dump the E-ticket into afterwards.

Disclaimer is, I just thought all of this up in the past half hour while I was mapping it. I'm not saying this is exactly how it should be, but to me its a pretty good plan using the space available and, should they destroy those attractions, what they could do with the land. You asked what I'd do and this is something I thought up real quick.
