The Battling Belles of Bataan
So, with the women in combat thread, my curiosity was piqued.
How many of you are aware that when Bataan fell, 78 military women (all nurses) were also captured by the Japanese? As far as I am aware, none of them shrank into the pavement and turned into wilting violets of instability upon capture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_of_Bataan

Okay, so I read the book. Wow! You'd think as brave as these women were, we'd have heard more about them. What they went through and how they conducted themselves, my goodness, I'm humbled.
