How sad and embarrassing for her and for them to say where she works at her firm. I hope she doesn't lose her job over this. It was probably a bench warrant - it's shocking how many people have these for fines and what not. In my county judges issue bench warrants for civil matters as well as criminal. Some people don't even know they have one out for them.

That's awful. I wonder if she even knew about the fine because I'm sure she would have paid the $85 if she did.

So how much will this $85 fine end up costing the state of FL if she has to stay in jail till Thursday as article implies? I realize she committed a crime but really?
Also, does trip insurance cover this

FWIW, I'm throwing this out here, if you have an old record of almost any kind (including a DUI from 25 years ago), it's possible that Canada will not allow you entrance. Be aware of this, if you planning an Alaskan (or other Canada) cruise.
You have to apply for rehabilation status with Canada. If eligible, it can take 6 months to a year to receive. Or you can get it faster for a lot more money.
