This morning was a bit of you take the good you take the bad..
![]() In the lobby were the first of what are likely to be hundreds of cheerleaders for some cheer-something-or-other. They travel in full cheer regalia I guess? I never knew that. Anyways the ones I saw this morning were very well behaved.. but 32 isn't the problem. it's when there is 900 of them. We'll see how that goes. And a knock on the door this morning so they could install the new RFID door lock. Pretty efficient process I must say. There were about 5 or 6 guys in the team and each one had a tool and a specific job to do in the process. The first guy took out the battery pack from the old lock, the next guy came removed the old lock panels from the front and inside of the door and the 'latch' mechanism. The third guy had a template for scoring the drill marks and he did that. And then the next two guys had two different drills for drilling the new holes etc. And finally guy #6 installed the new plates on both sides of the door, the RFID unit and the latch mechanism. We were heading out to the parks but I had to stay and watch this.

Being in construction management and facilities management, I have to say that is pretty efficient. While it sounds odd to have six people working on one lock, since there are so many components to it, it makes much more sense to have each person do one task. Don't have to keep switching tools, etc.
I would have hung around to see that one myself! It is a curse - being a sidewalk engineer - well, in my case, a sidewalk architect! |

Wow. I think that would never happen where I live. An example: Fixing the road - one guy is working, two are watching, one is leaning on a shovel and the fifth is smoking a cigarette on the side of the road. And a flag person!

Did they also give you an RFID wristband/key? If not, how will you open your door?

Been using the same RFID for park access all week. Pretty slick Crowds still have not abated significantly. Easy WDW listed today as a three for crowds. It was far from a three in my book.

The New Year fell on such an odd day this year that a lot of school systems probably still are not in session yet. That could explain the persistence of crowds.
I didn't know the cards already had RFID in them. Interesting.
