Stay where we love or try something new?
My Husband and two dd's (7 &5) and another couple with 2 boys the same agees went to WDW for a week in September. We are planning on going back this September again and are having a hard time deciding what resort to stay at. We did so much research on last years trip and stayed at POFQ. We absolutely loved it. It was exactly what we expected and we could not have asked for a better experience. The question is do we repeat and go with what we love or try something different. A big thing for us was that the transportation was so convenient and I am wondering if it is as easy at other resorts that have more than one bus stop. We also liked the small property. Getting out drinks and to the pool were so close to everything. That being said we are not opposed to other resorts we are just wanting to hear from some of you. If you could let me know what you favorite resort is and how convenient it is for transportation and food court etc.

We usually do split stays, so we can try a new place but also know that at least part of our trip will be in a place we already know we like. We try the new place first and end with the tried and true. We always rent a car so it's pretty easy to make the transfer.
We've stayed at Pop, ASMu, POR, POFQ, CSR, WL, and YC. At the value level we preferred Pop (fun atmosphere, good food court). At the moderate level we like CSR the best (nicely appointed rooms, beautiful landscaping, great pool). At the deluxe level, we love YC (best pool on site, calm decor, comfortable rooms with full balconies, and walking distance to Epcot). I can't say anything about transportation since we don't use it. We are taking a tiny risk in August, doing a split stay with two "new to us" resorts, BC and BWI. We've stayed at YC several times so I don't feel like BC is too much of a risk. We're trying BWI for a couple of nights before we hit BC.

We have a goal to eventually try all of the Disney resorts. We were making our way quite nicely until this past July when we stayed at WL. We absolutely LOVED that place.
![]() We basically left there saying we'll never finish our goal now, because we always want to stay there....alas, we are booked for YC in April. We are moving forward and excited about a new experience. ![]() But, the quicker we try new resorts and get through them all, the quicker we can get back to the WL! I think it's fun and exciting to try something new! Especially because we to so often, it's important to keep things fresh!

We have stayed in the same place more than once and have tried new hotels also. Going back to the same place is very comforting when there is so much you like about it. And with small children it's nice to have something you can count on. Trying a new place is very exciting and fun. We have stayed value, moderate, deluxe, and deluxe club level and have never been disappointed. Here's my advice... If you know you will be going back after your next visit, then stay at the same place this time and try another hotel on your third visit. Whatever you choose, it's my opinion you will have a great trip. Good luck!!!

Kim, just wanted to add that I think you'll enjoy the BC/BWI split stay. We did that (with a cruise in between!) in August of 2011. BC was the old and at the time, BWI was the new. BC is perfect in August when we need to get out of the parks and in the pool every afternoon. We still love both and will continue to return to both. (And I highly recommend CL at BWI!!)

Even though I have my favorite resorts at Disney - I like trying something new once in a while.
If you can afford I would suggest trying a deluxe/villa. They are all special in their own way and all have different perks. If your family wants to try something above and beyond wonderful - try a monorail resort (CR, GF, POLY) They are all incredible and are connected to the monorail which can lead you to MK and EPCOT (at TTC) Have fun deciding! -FantasiaMagic ixiedust

I have to say....we are generally a deluxe family, and we've tried many (YC, BC, Poly, AKL, GF, WL) with YC being our fav. Two years ago we tried Coronado and didn't love it. Felt huge and overwhelming and much more focused on conventions than regular guests. But this year, for Christmas (I am back two days) we tried POFQ too and fell in love. We even did the bounce back for FQ again in August. I think trying different resorts is super fun, but for us, FQ was pretty near the top. What about a split stay between FQ and a deluxe? So at least you know you'll love one of them?
All the other mods are pretty big, with multiple bus stops, so if it was me, I suggest a few nights at a deluxe (which I believe all have one bus stop, plus most have alternate forms of transportation to one or more parks, like boats or monorail.) I found YC to be most tranquil (like FQ).

You can make some of the resorts "feel" smaller by paying for a premium location (preferred room). That might be an option for you to consider!

We have our favorites, but we also like trying new resorts. We have stayed at 1 mod and all but 3 deluxes (some more than once) and we have had great stays at every resort and wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of them again. If there's another resort that appeals to you, I say give it a try as you'll never know if it's a resort for you until you experience it. Good luck deciding, but I'm sure you'll have a great trip no matter where you stay

You could return to POFQ knowing that you will be at a place you are familiar with, and then decide if you want to try something new next time. I like to stay with a hotel I love until I am really, really sure that I want to try something new. Why tempt fate? I don't want to hate my vacation.

We also love POFQ and have stayed there 2 years in a row and are planning to stay again this fall. The Contemporary is my true favorite, but staying Deluxe has just been out of the budget the last few years.

It would depend on if you wanted to stay in the moderate category or try a deluxe. POFQ sounds perfect for you. We also love POR Riverside either Magnolia Terrace or Acadian house. Pretty central location.
I also think its exciting trying new resorts, so if you were thinking Deluxe, WL would be a good one, as its fairly compact, and everything is under 1 roof. And a fun boat ride away from MK. I also enjoy a balcony.

Hard to say. I've stayed at many of the resorts and have had times when I regret booking my favorite. Other times, we are happy with our new choice. If it is stressing you at all, stick with your favorite. If not, try something new. If you find when you get there that you regret your choice, you can always see about switching. Disney wants you happy

We've stayed at all levels but my families favorite one is the one we still call "home". We always have to visit it on a trip and as soon as walk into the lobby we all feel home and say we're staying there again next time. It's fun trying new things but nice to feel at home too.
