How many outfits do you pack?

How do you decide how much to pack? Do you say 2 outfits per day per person or some other way??

I do enough shirts for 1 each day (maybe 1 extra if that person if particularly messy/young), and about 3/4 bottoms. So if we're going 5 days, 3 bottoms. If we're going 7 days, 5 bottoms. Etc. We can rewear a pair of jeans at least twice. If the weather is chilly, I'll bring some extra layering options, and a jacket. Then I pack enough underwear and socks for each day, plus 1-2 extra for the kids, just in case of accidents or getting feet wet. If we going to be gone longer than 5 days, I'll bring two sets of pjs, otherwise, just 1 each (unless there's a young child, then I'll bring more, just in case).

Though honestly, if its more than 5 days, I'd probably just pack a mini bag of tide and quarters and do a load of laundry at the hotel if needed, and cut back on clothing.

It depends on how long youre going and if you're driving or flying?
We are flying down December 28 for 16 nights and I will be bringing approx:
4 pairs of pjs per kid / 2 per adult
3 pairs of jeans/ pants each
3 pairs of shorts/capris each
1 bathing suit each
4 tshirts each
2 sweaters each
2 long sleeves each
I light jacket each
1 dressy outfit each
I pair sandals and 1 pair sneakers each
7 pairs of underwear each

But, we are flying and luggage is expensive. Plus we are staying at AKV in a 2 bdrm for 10 of those nights, so we have the washer/dryer in our villa.

If we were driving, I'd bring more.

Way too much! I can't stand wearing clothes more than once if they are not washed. I always overpack and I still end up usually doing laundry there even if I don't plan to.

We are leaving on Saturday and since it's saying 80's my plan had to change.

Adults 1 pair of jeans for and 2-3 shorts/capris.
7-8 tops
swimsuits
socks for each day, same for undies

Kids are getting 2 jeans 3 shorts
7 shirts, 1 long sleeved
Hoodie

socks for each day, same for undies

We are going to do laundry 1 time while we are there.

I refuse to do laundry on vacation unless I absolutely have to so I generally over pack, but on our last vacation which was two weeks total, I brought 15 full outfits for my husband and I (we dry clean our clothing and I wasn't washing it there) along with formal wear. For the kids I brought 3 swimsuits each, 3 pajamas each, and probably 12 outfits each, not including costumes and formal wear. I did one small load of the kid's laundry halfway through our trip, but ultimately I was pleased with the amount I packed, usually it's much more.

Depends on the age of the child. For my oldest kids who are potty trained and I know won't make a huge mess if I let them eat something like an ice cream mickey one outfit per day. My one son who is disbaled and not yet fully potty trained I pack two outfits just in case we need a change. My younger two girls two also cause I know the ice cream would be every where. And for the baby 3-4 outfits. If it is during the winter with cooler weather jackets and sweatshirts too. I also bring a pair of extra socks. This is why each kid has their own suitcase and why we bring two duffle bags with us to the parks. Lol

I look at the weather and the baggage fees! our trip next week will be mostly summer wear; one outfit per day with one spare. We wear our heavy jacket, heavier walking shoes, and heavier slack, packing the sandals. When DD and DS were small, I had no problem throwing in a load of wash while we're there. A poncho each, swim suits and cover-ups, pjs and we're good to go!I found that by rolling all the outfits together, it really does save space in the suitcase for those yet-to-be-purchased goodies

Well, now that my kids are a little older and are all potty trained: 2 outfits per person per day plus 1 t-shirt that will coordinate with said outfit for the kiddos JUST IN CASE 1 swim suit each, 1 pair of tennis each, 1 pair of sandals or crocs each. 3 pairs of undies including socks per day. 3 sets of pj's each and of course 1 beach towel each. 1 hoodie each. 1 rain coat each (i also stash a few extra dollar store ponchos) I have only had to do laundry maybe 3 times in 15 trips and all 3 were after we had children and we "allowed" them to come along...lol

We never do more than one outfit per day. I don't see a reason for more than that, unless we have a baby small enough that they could ruin their outfit. But we don't go with children that small.

It all depends on the number of days we go. Sometimes we don't even pack enough for an outfit per day, and end up doing laundry. I hate overpacking.

For each of the 6 of us for 6 days: 1 shirt per day, 2 pairs of jeans or shorts (depending on weather), 1 hoodie, 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of socks per day, 1 pair of undies per day, with 2 extra pair per person.

I always get all 4 girls packed into 1 suitcase, and DH and I packed in another. We drive, BTW. I hate overpacking. I did laundry on our last trip simply to avoid lugging home dirty clothes!

Depends on the time of year. If it's summer, you won't want to wear pants/shorts more than once.

Winter, you can get away with wearing them twice.

But I always bring one extra outfit for adults - you always have some kind of disaster whether it's baby vomiting on you or you end up sitting in something gross. For little kids, I'd go 1.5 outfits/day; for babies, 2 outfits a day.
